I've been using the Google Now Launcher since it first became compatible with my Moto X. It's such a good fit for the Moto software and is very low in resource usage in my experience.
I've had a few odd activations of "OK Google Now" but for the most part all of my colleagues have iOS devices and my family refuses to use the Google Now vocal activation on their android devices - so I'm to blame for my unintended activations of OK Google Now. lolYep. I used it with the original Moto X, and I've been continuing to use it. I love it. I don't care to have a billion extra features for my home screen. Folders on the "desktop", basic widgets, and the ability to change the wallpaper... that's all I want in a launcher. It's lightweight and I've let Google Now in on some of my life, so it is quite helpful and often provides interesting things to read that I am glad they were presented. It's not always helpful, but it sure can be.
I eventually got sick of the always-on voice detection on my Moto X. Don't get me wrong, it was very handy, but... too many false positives. Friends had a laugh out of how easy it was to get it going with their voices, but it also would just sometimes pop on without any of the phrase uttered by anyone. And that could sometimes be weird - like when I had my phone on silent during a wedding rehearsal, and the loud "doink" sound or however you'd describe it came on. Had a laugh but it could have been worse. I learned to turn it off when I absolutely couldn't have any noises interrupting, and then just eventually kept it off.

location stuff. Back when I frequented Nexus 5 XDA, many users enabled it and instantly lost about 45m screen-on-time during the day. It wasn't a play services bug spinning doing nothing, it's simply the cost of firing up GPS regularly and allowing google to wake to check location based on nearby wifi access points. How? Cooking up now cards?
