What up guys!

Costco has these drives for only a 135.00. Sweet! Just bought one and it works quite well albeit louder than my Plex. Alsooo BESTBUY has these drives for 149.50 on clearance.

What is even better is that the COSTCO TDKs include 12 24x CDR meida. That too me is a good deal.

Run to costco guys. If not check out BB if you dont have membership. I work as a computer tech at BB so I know they are on clearnace in SO CAL BTW.

Have a great day.

More like Barely Airly Warm. $135 is a good price if you simply
don't do rebates. But if you do rebates, the EXACT SAME drive
(Sanyo BP1500) as the TDK is available as a QPS 24x10x40 drive
at CompUSA for $100 after rebates...

For $35, I'd do rebates...The thread about the QPS is easily
available in this forum. As is, for that matter, another thread
about the TDK drive.

That's a pretty good price. But the more important question: can it do safedisc 2? Otherwise plextor would still be the better deal.

Hey 35 in rebates. Id rather get the drive and forget about the hassle with rebates. These TDK drives were running for over 200 bucks 3 weeks ago. Im not searching for rebadged stuff or whatever. Plus extra media 12+ and a marker and other good stuff seems to be good to me. I have repaired QPS drives before they are a good company but sometimes they soruce out different drives.

One time at anand someone said they were Ricohs when I bought a 6x a while back but turned out to be an ACER that didnt support certain functions at the time. At least when you buy TDK you get TDK and you get to buy your product from an AWESOME store. If anything goes wrong with your TDK drive if bought from COSTCO you get a full refund. Even if the DRIVE is a year old or more. I took a drive back without a reciept. Awesome incredible customer service.

Believe me hell would have to freeze over to have BestBuy do the same thing.

Also KWAD guy no disrespect but my post is about the TDK drive at a different store and it is less for what other people have posted it for. Its a good deal bud.

Have a good one.

I was not refering to TDK is not Sanyo. But you get all the good stuff the TDK drive comes with. And the unit is quite cool looking. But QPS tends to have different drives at their rated sppeds like Cendyne. Aesthetics are inportant to me and other ananders as well-at least I assume so.

Allright this deal is so lousy and horrible. I should be banned for even tryin to post it. My deepest apologies.

I agree with you Clocker....I would rather pay a bit more than to do the rebates.....good find......don't let the crappers get to you.

I have to agree, rebates are suck! I still have over $100 in rebates owed to me. And $135 for a 24x CDRW is flaming no matter how you look at it.

KwadGuy, after all I've been reading about CompUSA with their rebates and the way they cancelled my DC4800 camera order for no reason, explanation, substitution, or apology I would stay AWAY from CompUSA. Want to see what other people think. Check their ResellerRatings...1.8/7.0! I'd go for this deal, definitely!

I dunno, I still consider the Lite-On 24x drive at newegg for $139 to be hotter. Only $3 shipping too. The Lite-On got great reviews, and can do safedisc2.

I haven't had many (any?) problems with my (huge volume of) rebates
from CompUSA. Rebates are a hassle, and some people just refuse
to do them. For those people, $135 straight up is better. But
let's break this down:

A) $135 out the door (Costco)
B) $135 +
$ 35 => $70 rebate (CompUSA)

Basically, are you willing to put up $35 to double your money
through rebates. That's the real question. I think doubling your
money on $35 is worth the 10 minutes it takes to fill out the rebates
and make copies to ENSURE you get them.

Everyone is different, though. I wouldn't go for the rebate for
$5-10. But $35 is real money.

I have had this drive for almost 3 weeks and love it.

It has no harder time reading SD2 discs then the lite-on or plextors. It has no probs burning them once the image is made. I rip those with a Toshiba drive recomended on the clone cd site anyway.

I have owned Yamaha, Plextor, and this one, and they are all good. I would buy this drive again in a heartbeat.

Now excuse me I have to go to Best Buy and see if I can get some dough back! Geeeezz that is like $100 bucks cheaper! lol

>>>I would stay AWAY from CompUSA. Want to see what other people think. Check their ResellerRatings...1.8/7.0!<<<

1.8?!?! Wow...that is WAY too high for CrapUSA...I write this as I am on hold with CrapUSA...they absolutely REFUSE to give me a tracking number for the Sony FD95 that they substituted for the Kodak DC5000 that I ordered from them 2+ weeks ago. Allegedly, it is 'company policy' for them to 'not give out tracking numbers until AFTER the package is DELIVERED'...WTF? Would I ask for a tracking number AFTER I received the package? Whoever thought up this policy must have the reasoning power of a mad cow, and the IQ of a guppy. Their concern is that I might ask them to divert the package to another address and that they have no way of knowing if I am the actual purchaser. What a bunch of screwed-up a*holes. Only place worse than CrapUSA is WorstBuy. Now let's see if I can bring that Reseller Rating down a notch

WOW. I just went to resellerratings and read a little of what was said... and I am amazed. I've never bought anything at CompUSA, because they were not near me and there was never anything there that got my interest enough to make the drive and deal with the crowds, etc. Now though, post-Computer City merger, they are near and there is the web site of course, but reading what was said about that company makes them sound like crooked New York photo dealers!. But hey, one of the posts said the rating was 1.4, and not it's 1.7 so they are improving, right?

what i want to know is WHY are all these drives going for such low prices. a friend who works for Circuit City bought this exact same drive for $199 cost less than 3 weeks ago (Compu-u-plus was the lowest seller at the time for $199). now, this drive is on CLEARANCE at best buy? the drive is less than 6 months old, if even that old.

makes me REALLY wonder if there isnt such huge break-through in CD-R or DVD-R recording that's getting ready to hit the streets soon....

even worse is that i bought my plextor 12X less than a year ago for $220 and that was a GOOD price :disgust:

Well, for about $142 you can get this at CDW! Right now it's between $220 and $260 elsewhere on the web. I had bough mine for $250 at Microcenter this past Labor Day and promptly returned it and ordered mine from CDW! I plan to go to Microcenter and get the rebate form and mail it in with my reciept and get another $50.00 and lower it to $92.00!!!

sparky:

Costco had a hell of a return policy! Just find your reciept, take the old drive back, and use the cash to buy the new one!

Costco customer service rocks!
