I've been using Qwest for the last 6 months and service has been great and they have great international rates (my bill went from $9 month with AT&T to .65 with Qwest)... I'd still be with them if MCI didn't have the Amazon offer going.

I read on one of the boards that QWEST charges a much higher Universal Services Charge than other companies. I guess this fee/tax is one of those "passed along to the customers" and it's up to the individual company to decide how much to charge. If that's true, it amounts to a hidden monthly service charge. I have no personal experience with QWEST though, so I don't really know.

Does anyone know some good LD alternatives? I need to dump MCI now.

Essentials' customer service sucks! Despite my numerous phone calls and e-mails, they failed to change my address & phone number after I moved. As a result, my new long distance rates jumped to $.15 .

I have Qwest LD at it's terrific. Great quality. My bills dropped from 15 bucks to about 5 a month.
I signed up directly through Qwest a while back. Have relatives in Hawaii and the rate was different under essential than directly through qwest.
