is there a big performance jump from pc2700 and pc3200 ddr? i really dont need any more memory but might just get this for the future when i build a new system since prices are very appealing. i paid $150-160 x 2 last year for 2 sticks of 512MB Crucial PC2100 memory. It's insane how much prices have dropped lately.

I would say that Crucial has a better Rep than PNY yes, however PNY does package some good memory, not all is alike, it may be spectek, it might be samsung or infineon or other manufacturers, you have to look at the chips.

LOL. I have seen generic samsung RAM beat Corsair, Geli, and some other top companies like OCZ. Yes the reviewer had this test of overclocking and the Samsung generic ram performed much just as well or better and it was so much cheaper than the top quality ram. If you have samsung ram you would have some good ram. Personally I would stick with generic samsung ram for cheap prices, but samsung under Crucial + a good deal = even better.

Awesome deal. Just ordered mine a few minutes ago. I really needed it too... I'm running 256MB of SDRAM. And yes, i have a cheapo mobo that supports both ram SDRAM and DDR.

i don't think pc2100 is DDR333 it is DDR266 pc2700 is DDR333. I believe they are backwards compatible though.

All depends on what you'll end up putting the ram into later on. If you think it'll be a 400mhz bus system, get 3200ddr. I figure I'll end up putting a 400mhz barton in my nforce2 board a year or so from now so I'm looking for some good 3200 ram before the prices go back up.

At Costco Simpletech 512MB PC2700 DDR333 RAM is available for $54.99+tax. No coupons or rebates.
Similary at Newegg and Googlegear same memory is available for $60 and less.
