i know generic ram that uses micron chips have had problems. i have 2 sticks of bad pc133 using micron chips right here. but crucial is top notch stuff and u shouldnt complare generic to crucial. i looked up the chips on micron's site and my 128MB stick was using 64MB chips, im guessing they doubled it or something. i was so pissed cause i was never able to figure out why my system would always crash after 1 or 2 days. even right after re-installing windows. turns out the problems stopped after i changed teh ram.

Thanks for the link. Just picked up a nice PC-2700 DIMM for $46.56. (Stupid sales tax) Now what do I do with the gig of Crucial PC-2100 memorythat I will have laying around. These hot deals are killing me.....

stable @ 166Mhz CAS 2 Ultra

my mobo doesn't support 200MHz, so no way for me to test if it will go that far

The problems he is talking about above is the Crucial 2700 with the Nforce Boards only...cant rem what the exact problem is but their was some compatibility problems.

SUCCESS!!!. You can order ANY memory module as long as you follow the instructions on this page! After trying and failing 2x to order Registered ECC PC2100, I was really bummed. I also called Crucial 2x but they wouldn't give me the discount over the phone. I then did a bunch of Google searches, found the above page, and succeeded. Get the system to accept their coupon first by ordering part number CT6464Z335 plus your desired module. Then, back up to your cart, remove CT6464Z335, and check out as usual.

For some people it seems to work without complications. For others we have to jump through hoops to get our orders.

I got the message: "only for popular 512MB" sticks, same as other people. I'm just glad it went through. Now I can apply that towards a good set of 2.1 speakers! :beer:

I ordered one of these and it came with infineon chips. Ive decided to buy a dual memory board. What would happen if I ordered another stick of memory and it came with Micron chips. Will using two strips of memory with 2 different brands of chips work?

Cypherdude1, I don't know how you did it, but it doesn't work for me.
After adding CT6464Z335 to my cart, I added 512MB PC3200.
After the coupon was accepted, I then went back to delete the first item.
When I got to the checkout, the coupon was gone. No way to get around it.

Before you add the coupon information, there should be 2 items in your cart, your item and CT6464Z335. Did you do that? After the coupon is accepted for both items, you skip back 3 screens until you can access your cart. Then you remove CT6464Z335. Don't just skip back 1 screen at a time. Try 3 at a time. It should work. I read at Fatwallet.com it worked for others. When you return to checkout, the coupon should still be there in red.

If the above doesn't work, it could be because Crucial is trying to cut us off. I know they did change the start page to show only HP models. Before it also had generic memory drop-down menus. BTW, this is my order status as of right now:
Status: Shipped (UPS). Crucial is very fast.

I guess Crucial fixed their bug. I must have gotten in right under the wire. Tell you the truth, I did it so fast, I don't remember the exact steps I did after deleting CT6464Z335. Although I wonder if I could still do it right now. :evil:
