It sounds like those that were getting ecc and other sticks of memory were using a loophole to get it in the cart with the coupon.

I ordered the pc2700 and its scheduled for delivery on the 18th, will update later on with what chips I get, but sadly I can't overclock (ecs board, already a stick of mushkin basic 2100 in here) but at least I'll have a gig of ram.

I'm actually still using a dated stock bios 4/29/2002

I'm not too sure how large of an overclock I'd get with the mushkin basic inline, that'd definitly be holding me back, but it has still worked very nicely at stock timings

Crucial is the retail outlet of Micron Technologies. I don't think you will see any other chip that micron on crucial sticks

i have 2 sticks of crucial 2700, one with samsung chips, the other with Micron chips. i got the samsung with the last hp coupon deal about a month ago and the micron this time.

this was before i had a mobo that accepts ddrs so i took the samsung over to my friend's house, he had a xp 1700+ and was able to go 202 with standard settings and run prime95 all day. i'm not sure what the micron will do, since i have a palomino xp 2000+ that won't go over 143 (pretty lame, huh?).

i was really hoping for a samsung, but i guess it wasn't meant to be.

Becuase they can. It depends on your setup, voltage you apply to the memory, and timings.

Article specifically about Crucial 2700 DDR and overclocking

With overclocking its always YMMV

All right, I was running on 5-2-2-2-1. My mobo doesn't has CAS 3.0 option.

Regarding the article you mentioned, I think it understates the overclockability of this RAM under CAS 2.0. I can push it to 180 when CAS=2.0 with 2.6V.

Thanks,

Got my 2 Micron Tech. sticks yesterday and my MSI K7N2 Delta-ISLR Refurb. today from Newegg. Using my old unlocked Palmino XP1600 at XP2000 @ 402FSB(201x2) Dual Channel. Memory Voltage 2.7 @ CAS 2.5 . Will burn in system and then try to inch more. Nice speed boost from my old KT133 Mobo and Crucial PC133 Ram combo

For $44.99 shipped I might buy another stick to fill all my banks for 1.5GB total of memory.
