I hope you bought the 335 part and not the 265. The message in the header should have read:

512MB PC2700 DDR CT6464Z335 $79 - $25 = $54

Guess it's legit, my order for a stick of the PC2700 with the coupon applied now lists with a UPS tracking number.

Not a bad deal at all ...

just ordered my ddr 2700... that puts me at 1.5 gigs of ram... niiiiice!! thanks a lot bonkers. i figure that ram "might" get cheaper but you can't get too much lower than $58.17 for 512mb of ddr 2700 ram with tax & shipping... the most you can save later is maybe $20. i bought 1 gig of ram about 5 months ago at $130 each from crucial... "ouch!!"

thanks a lot bonkers

Ordered another gig of ram, this is a decent deal, the PC2100 is down to $46.99 for those that want to save a couple more dollars. $54 shipped for me, no tax

Heya all

I heard there were issues with nforce 2 boards and crucial ram in the past, specifically with the A7N8X. Is this still true? Crucial lists the A7N8X as one of the supported ASUS boards now so is the story different now? Does this ram work with the A7N8X board now?

I was also thinking of using two of the PC2700's in a dual channel setup in an A7N8X, do you think this will work? Do i need ram that's specifically for a dual channel setup?

Thanks all. Heiwa j0!

Thanks for the tip. I was bummed earlier when I thought this only worked for PC2100. Now I'm anxiously awaiting final confirmation of my PC2700 order.
:clock:

Sure will beat 128MB!

crucial just lowered the price by $5

so instead of 512MB PC2700 DDR CT6464Z265 $79 - $25 = $54

it will be 512MB PC2700 DDR CT6464Z265 $75 - $25 = $50

as you can see, its getting hotter by the day :clock:

Just bought a stick of DDR2700 for $49.99 even thought the "Crucial" link from "MyHPClub" did not list my motherboard and would not except the $25.00 discount code.

I called Crucial, explained I couldn't order the memory through the link online, told them what I needed and they applied the discount. Have always had good customer service from Crucial.

Yes, Crucial is high quality RAM. If you order RAM for your Dell 4550 from Dell they send you Crucial. RAM prices are beginning to edge up so now is probably a good time to buy. ECC RAM is for error checking. You only need this for servers or important workstations where you absolutely cannot afford to lose any bits. You don't want ECC for normal home PCs.

Really the ram that came with my dell is Crucial? So if I do get a piece of 512, and add it to my orginal 128 piece, it will match and run perfectly fine?
what you want to do is pull the 128 put the 512 in that slot...test for function..then put the 128 in the other slot...test for function....
Is this a really hot price, I would like somone to confirm this before I hit the summit button.
hit the button already...yes
How come my Part No. is CT289645 and not CT6464Z265 like everyone else?
that isn't a big deal ..it just so happens that is how you ran it thru Crucial's selector..the actual received stick will probably have the CT6464Z335 on it ..pc2700

I'd like to ask the question again ?
I'd also like to add that i have stick of corsair xms running in it already .... do y'all think i can slap a crucial stick in there and have it work well ?

Thanks

I'd stay with same brand/style as what you have...supposedly Crucial has fixed their problem..but....
still a good deal for 512MB of DDR ..

i just did exactly what u say, goin from 2x256 to 2x512 pc2100, and the speed is kinda noticeable, nothing drastic. not nearly as dramatic as goin from 256 to 512 IMHO
