Just got back from BB in Garden City.. They are $8.99 + tax .. I got the last 4 DVD-R's.. Actually they should have one left cause another guy was contemplating if he needed the DVD-R or +R's and I think he settled for the +R's, so there might be one -R left on the shelf by the TV section... They must've had about 300 DVD+R in the middle aisle, but I had to search the shelves for the DVD-R's...

Just want to let you ppl know that the +R's are Made in Japan
The -R's are Made in Taiwan, but I decided to buy 4 since they're so cheap anyhow.

Are there any made in Japan -R's anywhere or is Fuji 100% made in Taiwan junk? I'll venture out to Best Buy tomorrow if they might have the Taiyo Yuden -R's, but won't waste the time if there's no shot of finding any.

Whoa, crazy, just checked my local store's hours, they're open until 10pm, even on Sun. Guess it must be the holiday hours. Poor employees.
So, has anyone actually been able to buy these in-store for only $3.99? My local store's circular, as shown on their web site, has the 25-packs for $8.99. Would be insanely sweet if they were $3.99, even if they were the older 2x/2.4x-rated stock.

I got 4 packs of +R's (TY) for 3.99 at the Duluth, GA store. BUT, I checked with the sales guy, and he said that was a mistake, but that they would honor the 3.99 price. Fortunately, I had four packs with me when I approached him. Unfortunately, he then ripped the tag off. They did ring up 8.99.

So it was 100 8x TY's for 15.96+tax. Not bad.

Uhm.. $3.99 tag? Shelf tag, or item tag? AFAIK, they have to honor the price if they advertised it as such. Got a WRT54G OTD for $49.99 that way, since they left the shelf tag offering a price after MIR, a day past the date of the MIR.

Well my order is now backordered. Typical BB nonsence. The -R's were still showing in stock 12 hours after I placed my order but now I get an email saying they're backordered. First the Angel/Devil comment and now more 'backorder the really good deals' crap. I really hate Best Buy, but I'll still keep my order. Call me a devil.

HA-ha! I'm so ... "devil". Many packs purchased at $3.99, although I intentionally didn't clear them out. Apologies to those that go to my store later, they took the shelf sticker down. Maybe I should have bought a few at a time, but chances are, the first time that the shelf-label "mistake" was brough to managerial attention, they would have taken it down anyways.

'Tis a slight shame that they are all "Made in Taiwan", but 8x-rated Fuji isn't too bad, especially at that price. I'm guessing they are probably ProDisc, haven't burned any yet. Didn't see a shelf sticker for the +R, otherwise I might have gone for those.

Great deal, thanks!

Were they listed as $3.99 online or in the store? If online, did the sales guy know about the price or did you have a printout?

I picked up 2-25 pack DVD+R's (made in Japan) yesterday for 8.99+tax a piece. I might go back and try to get more at 3.99

When I got mine, the price was listed as $8.99 on sale online ($11.00 off of the regular $19.99 price). But when I got to the store, the actual shelf tag showed the price to be $3.99, after a $16.00 'instant rebate', good until 12/18/2004. They claimed that the shelf tag was in error, and that they were supposed to be $8.99 (which is what the computer was ringing them up as). They took the shelf tag off after I purchased mine.

Edit: Interestingly, checking the links posted earlier in the thread, the sale price online is still listed as $8.99, but they now list the original list price as $24.99, with a $16.00 saving. Now it all makes sense. Someone screwed up, they probably were intended to be priced at $8.99, but somehow, when the shelf tags were being printed, the original price in the database was $19.99 instead of $24.99. (Perhaps the mfg reduced their MSRP during the same time period, and it got entered into the database?) The savings of $16.00 was correct. So those shelf tags printed out at $3.99. Price mistake!

If no-one has already hit up your local store for the $3.99 ones, then check it out. Seeing the corrected pricing on their web site makes me wonder if corporate has already sent out a memo to stores though, to "fix" the shelf tags. Good luck.

Btw, I've been doing some researching, it seems that these ProDisc media are using an azo dye layer. In my mind, they should still be better-quality than the vast majority of CMC-rebadged brands out there, like TDK, Memorex, ValueDisc, K-HyperMedia, HP, etc., although real MCC or T-Y media is still the best. Even for $8.99 this is a decent deal, heading towards 'excellent' if you can find MIJ media.

Well BestBuy did it to me. Just got an email about my 8 packs of fuji DVD-R's that I ordered on Sunday morning. They said that 5 packs were canceled at my request(not true). I called and asked Customer support about it and they said that I only had ordered 3 in the first place(again, not true). Transfered me to another rep and after some investigation she could only assume that there was some sort of limit on the amount of packs I can order. I told her that it did not say that on the website and that is not what my email said and my original order said 8 packs.

If it was a price mistake then fine. Tell me that in the email and I'll live with it. But to tell me that my order was changed and I am the one that changed it is flat out (great game btw) wrong. They still show that I have 3 packs on BO but I am about to tell them to go to Hxxx.

BestBuy will not get anymore money from me.

And please don't tell me to stop whining cause I did not get in on a price mistake. That is not the point.

They are trying to get rid of the devils and I guess they just got rid of one.

Ok, now you did it to me.

I bought two 50 packs of FUJI DVD-Rs at BJs Wholesale club on Black Friday. They were $9.99 as I recall - no rebates, just used some coupons. They said made in Japan, which I believed was good. I just opened a spindle and stuck one in my NEC 3500 and it reports they are 4.38gig 12x,8x,6x4x,2x and disk manufacturer ID is TYG02. This looks like it should be good stuff, am I correct?

I haven't even had time to burn a DVD yet to test 'em out. :>((

Once again, for last time:
TO2 = +R FujiFilm Japan
GO2 = -R FujiFilm Japan

Both Toyo Yuden manuf.

In the two best current DVD burners (Pioneer 108 - NEC 3500) both 8X RATED discs will burn at 12X reliably.

+R TO2 will be your best shot at burning 16X will low error rates, until real 16X RATED discs come out, using Nero 6.3.0.3 (Burning SW is also important factor)

I use TO2's exclusively in my Pioneeer's and burn all the time at 16X with beautiful graphs (FW 1.18)

Mission critical data I burn at 8X just to be safe.

Both have dyes that are good for long term storage, tho the new Ricoh organic dye is supposed to be even better (on their yet to be released 16X)

The question isnt WHETHER you can buirn 16X on plextor, but if you can burn WELL!!
In other words, can you give your error loaded DVD's to a friend and have his crappy DVD reader/burner play them without problems.
I guess you know to uncheck reg rec in the drive window icon (right click) properties in Nero 6.6.0.3
I also assume you have TLA 0202 model 716A drive bought very recently.
