The following is Not directed toward any particular poster.

This last few months "bizarre" craze with PSUs is Very Interesting, it actually looks much more like Social, and psychological intrigue, rather than a technology issue.

I wish I knew who is pushing it behind the scene.

Guess folks have too much $ to burn. It's easy to "go with the flo" when you lack the formal/infomal training to make an informed decision.

A lot of P4 530 130 watt powered pre-built PCs (emachines, budget DELLs, HP) come with 280-330 watt PSUs with room to spare.

they run with intel accelerated graphics, no pci cards, single small fan, so i dont think u should compare..

I have seen a few with upgraded graphics and the systems in stock form only use around 200 watts +/-.

funny...i don't recall saying that. i was asking if the 500w non namebranded PSU would be better than the 300w fortron. i wouldn't tell my friend to put a fotron500w in his rig for his parts. i was just making sure the 300 watts is enough and 350w isn't needed
