that's a shame, such beautiful turn of the century homes gone to waste.
WTF were people thinking back then moving out to the burbs?
That the inner city is turning to shit, so they'll move to the nice burbs.. which are now also shit?
they'd better set up a containment wall before it takes all of the midwest!
Very few of the suburbs are anywhere close to the same league as Detroit. Oakland County abuts Wayne County. Oakland County has some of the most affluent areas in the nation.
It's easy to make blanket judgments.
I was (mostly) joking
Oh, I know. You had a question mark there. It's just that there are so many posts here about the Detroit area that are just so uninformed. Don't get me wrong, because I have no need to go into Detroit proper and I'm happy about that. But there are many, many areas of Detroit that are very nice and very safe. The blight has moved to the suburbs on a really minuscule level.
What really gets me is when the problems of Detroit are projected onto the whole state. Much of the state is heavily treed,
we're second in coastline to Alaska. Tons and tons of lakes and streams and rivers. Lots of recreation in the state. We've got our problems as many states do, but blanket statements based on a picture of a burned out shell of a home in Detroit is just not representative of the state as it really is.
Off soapbox.
