All this talk about new more overclockable Bartons makes me give a Barton another shot. I had three blanks already (meaning less that 2.2 GHz on default).
I just got a week 30. It won't go 2.2 on default voltage. It WILL do it at 1.75, but I don't want to use a noisey HSF so I think I will stay at 2.1 (where it works at default).
Hmmm... maybe 2.2 on default voltage isn't as common anymore... or maybe they had a surplus of 2.2 Ghz chips and labeled them according to demand, and now that supply is gone, so they're selling the lower quality chips now.
I'm hoping I have better luck than loukey! But I'll need a better HS/F before I try.
I just got my system put together this evening:
XP 2500+ 0330
8RDS+ rev 2.1
512 mb Buffalo PC3200 Winbond CH-5
20 gb Western Digital 7200 RPM
ASUS GeForce4-ti4200 128 mb
50X CDROM
Antec Lanboy Case
350 Smart Blue Power Supply
Windows 2000 loading as we speak!
I have a week 29 can only run 2.2ghz at 1.85v prime stable. I will boot to xp with 1.775v but not stable. I am getting a week 30 tonight and hope it will run better.
Newegg... but now I know that isn't good for you since you live in CA and that means state sales tax! I grew up in CA and miss it, but at least I have the consolation of no sales tax from newegg.
