I don't think so because the O/S and everything that runs the NAS is on the existing hard drive. Maybe you could pull it out and image it to a new drive and then install the new drive inside the box?

You might try Synology as their products are about as hot as they come.
I'm about to try my new MP830 with the DS101g+ that I've had in service for about two years...flawless.

First, I plan on trying the MP830 on Server 2003 (Canon does not officially support that but all kinds of reports are out there that it is a flawless combo).

Edited to say: I'm really impressed with this MP830 for $235. at Circuit City.
They did a price match and then applied a $15 coupon I saw by the cash register.
Could have also had free shipping and a year's free interest.

Is this a good NAS product? I've been looking to pick something like this up, though I'm looking for something that holds 4 drives in RAID 0, 1, ...

If you go to Synology web site, you'll see that they have a product that will address just about everything, (I think). They are winning award after award...
Mine, which is two years old (and updated with the latest firmware) does 10/100/1000 with Jumbo frames 9000. If there is anything faster, i'm not aware of it.

Edited: look at the 406e Terrabyte server, I'll bet you can raid this in any direction you want.
I'll bet this is so fast that they had to curve the traces to keep any electrons from flying off any 90 degree corners.
