All of my local CCs were out but they are getting two in about a day or so. They said one was already special ordered but the other one was still available. I took it.

You can special order it and pay for it today. I got my rebate reciepts and should have it in a couple of days.

Also, I talked to them about the 10% online rebate. They said that you can not get the two $70 rebates and the 10% rebate. CC sent out a notification to the rebate house to check if the $70 rebate was submitted. The 10% rebate states the price has to be over $200 after rebates. Still, $109 for a 250GB drive is a good deal.

I don't see anything shady. Both $70 rebates are valid, as is the gift card rebate -- you get a gift card worth 10% of the purchase price ($249.87). "After rebate" means you have to fill out the rebate form to get the card; they won't just automatically mail a gift card to your billing/shipping address. I don't see a problem here.

Ah, well, then sorry! I agree with you, that doesn't sound right. Sounds like the B&M store just trying to make someone feel better about not ordering online, trying to make sure it doesn't get asked to give an extra 10% off to match the online price.

I am just going by what the manager told me. The 10% gift card rebate says:

Receive a FREE gift card* by mail worth 10% of your purchase price of $200 or more!

The purchase price is $249 - $70 MIR - $70 MIR = $109 which is less than $200. Kind of shady for CC to do this even though they are advertising the 10% GC right on the same page as the drive. The rebate house might not catch on but one of the $70 MIR is going to the same place as the GC rebate. YMMV.

Still a good deal at $109 but even hotter if you get the GC card which will be $24.99.

Edit: I called CC as others have and they also told me that all three are good to go. Looks like I have a confrontation coming up with the manager when I go to pick up my drive. :|

The nearest Circuit City stores were out of stock on this. I purchased through Amazon for pick-up at a store quite a ways away. Like someone else reported here, the confirmation listed another store (even further away). I called the store I wanted to pick it up at. They assured me they would honor the transaction and that they had the drive in stock. When I showed up they not only did NOT have the drive, but they informed me the original transaction had been cancelled:| Two customer service employees and one assistance director later, they 'found' a drive in stock. It was the floor model, which was basically the empty carton on the shelf. The drive and other contents were still sealed and locked up in back. They looked none the worse for wear so I took it.

I explained further that since my original transaction was now cancelled that the gift card promotion wouldn't be honored. So he instructed the c/s rep to lower the drive price by $25 and add on a gift card( non-taxable, btw) to the purchase. He even noted on the receipt that this was an 'internet cc purchase rerang in the store..pls honor all rebates'.

A big hassle, but hopefully the two rebates will work. It sure helps to have the names of who you talked to....he even said (after apologizing) that the inventory mix-up was stupid....

I was at my CC last night and saw they were OOS on these. I was thinking the 10% was online only, so didn't get them to order one. So what can I do at this point, go back to B&M and order it and get them to honor the 10%, or order at .com? If ordering online, will they not ship one to my local B&M?

If they pulled it, all you have to do is get a copy of the original one valid for this time period.

By pulling it they can't deny a rebate, only try to prevent newcomers from getting it.

The original rebate form had 11/16-11/22 but they switched it to 11/16-11/17. I don't know anyone who saved the orginal online but I printed it out and it says 11/16 to 11/22.

I also purchased it instore on monday and both my rebate forms say 11/16-11/22. So yes, they did switch one of the rebates.
