good luck w/ the viking rebate. the last rebate i sent in to viking took 3 phone calls and 6 months to receive.

And I just got a Simpletech 256MB from them 2 weeks ago too

Note: Viking sucks at rebates and Simpletech's 256 card is actually 243MB. Still, I prefer quality over quantity

hmm tough choice. i'd buy a viking based on media reviews here: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/

viking is the fastest in read/write. but rebate sucks according to posts here
sandisk and simpletech would be better bets to get the actual rebate? anyone else have suggestions

rebate for my viking came without phone calls.. it came later than it was suppose to but it came without me having to call them. and the card is great and fast

I have a Viking 64mb and a cheapo "Mr. Flash" 128mb card.

love them both. used the viking in my old PDA and in my Coolpix 990....never any problems.

I'm buying another 256

Oh, i see - so what you are saying is that SanDisk has reworked their memory to be faster? Then why does the SanDisk Cruzer I got just a couple of weeks ago access so damn slow? Perhaps you have a more up to date comparison link? Did you notice, I even spelled comparison correctly?

Cameras' are usually slow themselves, so it matters not if the media is also slow. But many people get media readers because of this, and to save the camera's batteries. If you check the link in my prior post, you'll see a comparison of speeds of CF cards from different vendors.
