This stuff runs great with the chip sets it calls for. I have purchased a total of 6 sticks 133 (256meg) no problems. From what I'm told it won't work with the other chip sets because of electrial noise in the system. There are more filters and other stuff so the electrial signal is cleaner. All I know is it works with no trouble.

What kind of chips were used for those who had gotten Cas2. It said the memory stick does not always come with SYncmax chips.

Been running this ram for about 4-5 days now in my MSI K7T Pro-2a. No problems. Standard default CMOS works fine. Some tweaking... works fine. Only thing my stick won't do is CAS2 at 133mhz. Otherwise I have no problems (other than 3dmark locking up on me, but I don't think its the RAM's fault).

ARGH! I dunno why, but I got a bad feeling about this. i ended up buying a 256 of toshiba. 7 or 7.5ns seek, reported to run cas 2 at 133.

I wanted ecc... just for the hell of it, but decided against it

I just opened the package of ram after getting back from a trip. I've never bought ram online. Should I worry if there are marks indicating the chip has been installed elsewhere? I would check it myself, but I've yet to buy the motherboard for the new pc I'm building, and I don't have an AMD system available to test the ram. Thanks for any info.

This RAM only read as 128 MB on my Tekram Via Apollo Pro 133 chipset board and wouldn't boot into Windows at CAS 2. When I ran it at CAS 3 and 133 I got a message at POST saying the RAM was being overclocked at 133.

In fairness, the blurb only claimed the RAM worked with the Apollo Pro 133A chipset and the RAM seems happy enough at CAS 3 in my KT133 A7V board, both in W2K and Win98SE. I haven't tried it at CAS 2, but at least the whole 256 MB are being recognized.

I got these 256 meg SyncMax ram a while back from another distributor..but its the same model number according to the UpgradePlanet link...anyhow, I bought it for my KT7-RAID and it worked fine for my Duron 600 to 1 gig...
I ran it at CAS-2 with Turbo and all the options...it was rock solid...I had to turn on the mem hole tho cuz I think the SB Live value was causing some weird problems. Anyhow, you guys are getting a great deal at the current price...I paid almost double for mine...<kicking own ass>...but thats the way it goes with RAM.

BTW, the bios i am using is the 6.0 version. (according to my system information). I am using Win2k...games, web developing programs all are rock solid.

Hope you guys have the same luck with ur stick of SyncMax.

Any memory that is even halfway decent, should run at least 10% more than what it's rated at. "Good" PC100 memory usually has no problem reaching 133mhz. Never a problem getting "cheap" generic 100mhz ram running at 115mhz, or "cheap" generic PC133 ram running at 145Mhz (Abit KT7 memory at FSB+33, or 112+33).

Point is, the message header says PC133 running at 123MHZ like it's a good thing, when that is very poor. From others posts, most likely these are simply good running PC100 sticks, remarked to PC133. If you can use PC100 memory, this looks like a great deal.

i waited weeks for my 256megs from upgradeplanet and finally sent them an e-mail, first they said it was mailed, then a few hours later they said it was backordered. :|

I, of course, promptly asked them to cancel my order, a lot of crap that they think they should make me wait for weeks, not tell me it's backordered, then tell me it's shipped when i contact them. :|

All I really want out of it is the 256 and the PC133, Cas3 is fine. I'm only now just getting worried if the RAM won't work at *all*. It will be the only stick in the machine..

Update

Still running solid on an Asus P3V4X mobo, o/c a 650 to 846, running it at CAS 2.

But I agree with some of the guys. So what if it'll run CAS 3? It's still 256 mb of ram for ~83 dollars :Q

I'm considering getting another

How about a Soyo SY-6VBA 133? The chipset is a Via Apollo Pro 133 (no A).

The 133 and 133A chipsets seem to be very similar except for the 2x vs. 4x AGP.

Anyone have this memory working on a Via Apollo Pro 133 (no A) chipset motherboard (ie., Soyo SY-6VBA 133)?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

He's referring to the CAS2 setting.

The RAM runs at 133MHz just fine.

This is probably a duplicate post, but folks who are asking about compatibility don't seem to have gotten the message.

Syncmax has detailed compatibility info here.

Click on "The Memory Module" then "Motherboard Compatibility". Select the module S256M16044-7, then click "Search". Or search by motherboard manufacturer.

(You'll find that the memory is not compatible with any of the Soyo boards.)

I'm using this memory in two Duron 700@850 systems based on the EPOX 8KTA+ board, and it's working perfectly at PC133 CAS3. Check the compatibility info before you buy!

Well, I still can't get mine working properly in my KT7, and every other memory chip I have works just fine in it.

Which DIMM slot are you putting it in?

Can anyone report this RAM working fine on an Abit KT7? Not the Raid board, just the original Abit KT7. I bought 512mb of this stuff for that board and I'll be very disappointed if it ends up not working and I have to send it back. Thanks.

Update: I flashed my Abit KT7-Raid bios to the latest beta bios, and have run for 2 hours without problem since then. Hopefully that solved my problem and I scored some cheap memory...
