Hi everyone,

Check this out. Quite incredible really

Has anyone ordered from these guys before? How about the syncmax ram with the Asus P3V4X mobo...has anyone o/c with this combo successfully?

Any input is greatly appreciated? This is tempting

Cheers

Basically, they are saying it won't work with many systems.
My guess would be that the chipsets mentioned have enough latitude to slow the memory speed down enough make it work.
ie, probably very low quality RAM.
Another page on their site tells that you get what you pay for:
http://www.upgradeplanet.com/shop/d...&mscssid=CWWQF8Q9S3S92MA000J74Q3KP2C26TN6

Right now, quality memory is so cheap that I don't think its worth buying some that isn't up to "Industry standards.

Good luck

Good pt. Rookie2000. But I've just heard from someone who's running this ram at cas 2 pc133 while o/c his 700 to 1000 mhz.

So it may not be so bad after all.

Any ideas anyone?

cheers

Anyone using this stuff with the Asus K7V? The A7V is listed as compatible, but not the K, even though it uses the Via Kx-133 chipset...

I bought some of this cheap ram from Connect Computers back when the price jumped for a short (I paid $97 +$11 for shipping). It was some generic name (Martec or something) and I noticed it had a sticker that under the PC133 Sticker, there was a PC100 sticker. After seeing that I was pretty skeptical that it was gonna work and was thinking about how I was gonna give Connect Computers a few choice words. Anyways, I removed the 2 128mb chips from my Asus P3V4X and put the new 256mb chip in. Turned the computer on and it worked! I have an Intel 600e at 800 (133mhz). Also, my ram timings are set to cas 2. So it's been working for me for the last couple of weeks no problem.
So, while its even cheaper now I'm gonna get myself another stick, the ram can't stay this cheap forever. And why should I pay twice the amount for some "good" ram when this works just fine? Don't forget that a cheap bastard like me has to get the most for my money! And, anyways, when I'm upgrading next summer to the next best thing, whoever I sell this mobo/cpu/ram combo to won't care if it no-name ram or the best of the best. They'll just be amazed that they are getting 512mb.
Just my $.02...YMMV

The website said the memory is for 168 Pin 256MB PC133 * LIMIT ONE * For VIA KT-133, VIA KX-133, AMD 751 Iron Gate, VIA Apollo 133A Pro Chipsets ONLY. I assume it would work. I think I will buy couple for that price. I have the ASUS A7V. Hopefully, it works. =)

I saw that last night and almost ordered (i have the AnandTech approvedMicrostar K7T Pro2, actually i have the Pro2A but the only difference is the ATA100) but I'm still worried about the compatibility even though I have a board that should work.

I posted a thread in the AnandTech Articles section asking if AnandTech could do a review of all this cheap "only for this chipset" memory.

If you anyone else is interested in seeing a review please go there and show your support!

TECH QUESTION?

I bought ram last week (not this stuff).. supposedly pc133 and supposedly 256mb.

The memmory is only 128mb and I'm not certain how to tell if its running at 133mhz.

How can you tell what speed your memory is posting at?
Is there as possibility that it IS 256mb but not compatible?

I tried it in my 2 computers...
KT7-RAID - Duron 600 @ 800
Intel BX - PII 350

PS the MEMORY i bought came from V3si. I do NOT reccommend them. at all.
DONT buy from V3si.com this site took 2+ weeks to deliver and the chips are junk!
I'm trying to return the junk and I still have not yet spoken to a person. They have "voice mail at customer service"

The symptoms you're seeing are very likely because your chipset can't handle high-density 256M ram... which this is. In such cases, if the ram works at all, it'll be detected as only 128M and performance will suffer.

The memory mentioned here is probably Virtual Channel memory. If my memory is correct, this should only work in with AMD chips - namely Via chipsets. Thus, if you own any Intel chip, stay away from this stuff.

Yes, the good stuff is SO cheap, why mess with the crap? Heck, two years ago I purchased 128MB of CAS2 PC100 RAM (good stuff) for $210. Heck, I can get 256MB of CAS2 PC133 RAM for $50-60 less now, and it's the good stuff.

That type memory won't work with the KT7-RAID according to http://www.upgradeplanet.com/ (where the deal is). On boards that do not suppot the 32Mb x 4 chip configuration, it will only recognize 128 Mb. I can't find out if this stuff is supported in the MSI K7T Pro2A I just bought.

I do know, while shopping, that I mailed Epox to see if it would work with their EP-8KTA2 and their tech guys said this stuff would work fine on that board. I wish Microstar would answer my email so I would know on the board I got. :frown:

One wonders why they would only charge $75 for such wonderful stuff. Similar products are at least $50 more, if not $100.

I'd like to see a few reports from people who actually bought it, use it, and know how to benchmark it first..

This is Syncmax memory. I'm using it right now in two systems built around the EPOX 8KTA+ Socket A board. Works perfectly at PC133 CAS3, as advertised. It should also work in the 8KTA2. Check this site for compatibility with other boards.

I'm happy with my Kingston Value Ram 256 mb PC100 running CAS2 @ 144 mhz and for less than $100 This chip is better than my Mushkin PC133 128 Mb stick (It will only do CAS3)

it's toooo bloody tempting

Does anyone know how much memory is enough? I have 192 mb now with windows 2000 and I hear that's enough.

But we know how it is, it's enough NOW, but it won't be in a year or so.

Can anyone comment on what they're running and how good it performs? I've heard that anything over 128-256 range won't be noticable.

Comments ?

I'm using the same ram right now. I paid around $102 shipped. It does the job, but it won't go to cas2. Cas3 is fine. I'm thinking of selling this stuff and buying some corsair/mushkin/mosel.

Actually, earlier in this thread you said

I saw that last night and almost ordered (i have the AnandTech approvedMicrostar K7T Pro2, actually i have the Pro2A but the only difference is the ATA100) but I'm still worried about the compatibility even though I have a board that should work.

That is great if it is working for you.

The SyncMax tech document listed above gives the parts numbers of the memory as S256M16034 OR S256M16044. At the (SyncMax Web) follow the memory module link from the java menu, then the motherboard compatibility link and you will com to a place to enter memory product number, motherboard chipset, and manufacturer. This can tell you if this memory will work for you.

I entered MSI and KT133 and it shows that a K7T-PRO with a Duron failed with every combination .FAILED. (all of the other memory chips they make passed though)

Since I have a Pro2-A it is possible that the enhancements and bios upgrades have fixed this problem, but it is very easy to see why I am wary.

We really need to have a survey as to who has had luck using this...

will this ram work as cas2?!
