You usually get what you pay for when it comes to displays. I'd not buy one without seeing it in person first.

It is still safer than buying those Korean brand ones on Ebay... if it has any defects or dead pixels just return it back to the store... but the specs of 1.07 billion color support does look odd - unless it is a 10bit monitor (correct me if I'm wrong)

EDIT: I checked their website and specs states it is 10bit!! I wonder what type of LG panel are they using or is it software driven 10bit like the Dells and NEC...

definitely going to see if they have it on display <no pun intended>. was hoping there would be a review, or maybe someone here nabbed one.

Very interesting find!

According to the specs, NO HDCP! Seems pretty strange to me, since it has both DVI and HDMI inputs. Means that you cannot connect a blu-ray player, nor a PS3, to this display.

Edit: None showing in stock in Cambridge.

Next time I'm by Microcenter I should see if they have it on display. I think my 6870 would suffer at that res though.

I'm heading to MC tomorrow and they seem to have a couple in stock. Hopefully, they'll have one on display. Is anyone curious about any particular specs/characteristics of these monitors? I'll take a few pictures regardless.

viewing angles (178 degrees). sop not an TN (there isn't any yet on this resolution). looks like it is that common 27" IPS panel from LG.

Same. I own the Yamakasi Catleap, and it has been one of the nicest monitors I've ever owned. I'd buy it 3 times over in a heartbeat before I'd try some offbrand crap like this.

I would buy from one of those Korean stores, but dead pixels, uneven backlighting, and etc intimidate me. The only reason I would buy this display from MC is because I can inspect the display before I take it home and there's a brick and mortar store I could easily return it to.

From your own experiences or what you've heard from others, how common are these imperfections and how does their customer support deal with it?

Thanks

I hope you guys realize that it may be the same panel dressed in different clothing. Like catleap = shimian = some other korean brands = hazro (sold in Europe). The PCBs and such may differ but the panel is probably the same A- LG panel.

I agree... the only difference could be the controller board because from the looks of the specs - this one includes a HDMI and VGA port.

The only difference in this one is that it is a USA brand, so RMA/Warranty is localize... if anything just take it back to Microcenter or check it out yourself for defects before taking it home (if microcenter allows it). Because when I bought my 52inch LG 3D HDTV at Fry's they powered it up for me to look at it before I took it home... heck if they had it in stock at Tustin Microcenter I would go down there right now... and to check out if they have a GTX 670 in stock...

You can tell just by the viewing angles? D:

I can, as others already figured that too. Viewing angles is first hint. Second is that tech to make this kind of panel is fairly rare. Only known panel with these specs is one made by LG.

Let me know how it performs in gaming... since it has HDMI I'm wondering if it has a scaler and its affects on input lag... thanks!

When I went to Microcenter the salesman told me that they didn't have one out on display and he couldn't take one out of the box to show me... =[
