Some comparison of the PNY and Crucial DDR memory on my system, may be useful for some of you guys.

Here are what I got: two Crucial 256M DDR (CT3264Z265.8T, CL2.5 8 chips) and two PNY 256M DDR (samsung K4H280838C-TCB0, 16 chips). Crucial memory is $40 each after rebate @BB, and PNY... much cheaper than that

Stable settings on my ECS K7S5A, XP1800+, 143MHz/143MHz:
PNY (samsung) vs Crucial
DRAM Timing Configuration: Fast Ultra
DDR Cas Latency 2T 2.5T
DDR RAS Active Time 6T 5T
DDR RAS Recharge Time 3T 2T

performance differences are negligible. If not for the lower price, I would go for Crucial, since it's 8-chip single sided. YMMV, and it also depends on the mobo. Now going back to argue with the OD manager

Just snagged the last one today, $48 out the door and that $65 rebate. Same sales rep that helped me get the memorex burner for $45 out the door, really nice woman. Thanks. Even though its infineon chips, no biggie, i don't plan to overclock too much. Also went down to BB to try to get samsung mem for my cousin's comp, they didn't pm the receipt from OD, but it was still good. gonna clock that to ddr333, so it's ddr333 for $70 out the door and that $20 rebate.

Anyone else having it show up that there is none left on their website? (I tried to checkout, it said they didn't have any, grrr). Too bad there isn't an Office Depot within 60 miles.

I got me a couple of sticks that has Samsung chips on them.
Are Samsung chips any good?
If the rebate goes thru, this is the deal of the new century )

SrikanthAG:

Yeah, forget trying to get them online. You've got to go to the B&M. If I could guarantee that I'd get paid $34 to take two sticks, I'd drive the 60 miles!

Ya, well my problem is that the closest places from me (44223) are probably more like 100 miles away, but if anyone on here would be willing to pick one up for me, I would pay you right away and pay the shipping to me (should only be about $1.50 by Media Mail). So if anyone would be willing to hop on over to their local OD with the $20 coupon, etc... I would pay you right now. So, anyone, PM me, ill send you the money if you get it today. I know this is kinda late, but just thought I would try (Road Runner was down earlier, grrr, woulda posted it a few hours ago).

Well I just got off the phone with them. They were going to let me buy it on back order, but then after I had already made sure that it would show up as being purchased on this date (so I could get the rebate), well, she then at the end after I asked her one more time to confirm said that no, it would not show up as being purchase today since they don't charge me right away, etc.... So much for that idea. So, anyone, pick it up for me with the coupon and I will pay you right now.

Just popped in my samsung tcb0 chips in my albatron kx400+ and it booted at 333mhz. Infineon did too. Just gotta wait for my hard drive now too install anything on it. weird that when i put the infineon in my asus a7a266, it didn't boot at 333, must be something with the motherboards.

Well i got this board for my cousin's college computer. It was $85 at frys for the kx 400+ PRO. The pro comes with the new via southbridge with usb2.0 and ata133. It comes with the realtek alc650 6.1 channel sound. It supports pc3200 through overclocking (setting the processor to 160mhz fsb, this works best with 1600 and 1500+ processors). It has dram voltage tweaking to 2.8volts and cpu voltage tweaking to 1.85volts. It also has bios mirror, which is supposedly a more convenient version of dual bios from gigabyte. No raid or firewire tho.

I picked up this deal today at my local OD(Annapolis, MD). I got the last one of these. They price matched the Best Buy price of $64.99.

$64.99 - $20 coupon + $3.25 sales tax = $47.24 (out the door) - $65 rebate = -$17.76 (profit)

It doesn't get much better than this. They are Elixir chips. Does anyone know anything about this make?

OK all,
I went to OD early yesterday (sunday morning), and they have 2 256ddr displayed. The posted price was $64.99, just like on the website right? ok, so i was so happy, and went to ask the manager if they take the $20 off coupon. He said yes. No problem. I took the only samsung chip left there, and proceeded to checkout. The price was 99.99. So, the manager came over, and looked confused. I showed him the printed webpage with the $65 price. He went to check the shelf, and its also $65. He then checked the computer, and told me that he wouldn't accept the coupon now, b/c $65 is the cost of the ddr, and he cant sell it for less. WTF!!! Arguing didnt help, so i just kept the stick b/c i see how hard it is to find one. Assuming i will get the 65$ rebate, it's still a good deal. I was mad b/c he changed his mind about the coupon.

Then, at home, i called the OD number, and talked to CSR. she said the coupon is a fake, so i cant complain about the manager changing his mind. So what should i do now??? i dont want to be left out on this 'pay me to get this ddr off your hand' deal. Should i go to another OD to get it fixed?

oh, another thing, the rebate form wasnt printed out with the receipt, so, there is no problem using the online form right?
and the lastday for the rebate is 9/1, so getting the problem fixed after 9/1 would cause trouble getting the rebate right? Could someone please help??? ( sorry, im kinda greedy here, b/c i couldnt get my OMax to PM their own ad, thats for another post)

Teak101: you got screwed and the CSR is wrong. Go read the other forum about the printable $20 off 50 coupon. If it was a fake, the coupon code used wouldn't take any money off or it would take off some other amount. The cashier doesn't subtract $20, he just presses the coupon button and types 4 numbers after it. If the code was a fake, it wouldn't even ring up.

I read that one too, thats why I was so confused!!! dang, why did the CSR do that to me? I heard from my friends that all the stores in NYC is very bitchy about coupon and such, so i went far just to get a nicer treatment. Luckily, this was the only store that had ddr in stock. Man, the manager took the matter in his own hand in determining the value of the ram, and decided when is the coupon can be used!!! I can come back and find another manager to fix the problem, but i dont want to change the date on my receipt...I can copy it now to send in for MIR right? Do they check which receipt is valid?

I have no idea. I've never been denied a rebate other than 'no upc included' even when I've returned things on the same receipt and the prices changed.

I went to my OD and they were oos. They agreed to let me buy a stick "on back order" in order to get in on the rebate. I won't have a UPC code until the ram comes in. I would really appreciate it if someone could email me a scan of the UPC code for the DDR memory. Send me a pm and I'll return my email.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Keep the good deals coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it surprised me that Seattle area OD stores still had these in stock. I printed out two of the $20 off $50 coupons and one of the $64.99 online pricing. One store had one Samsung stick and another had one Elixir stick. Each priced out as $64.99 plus 5.72 tax (WA state 8.8%) less coupon #9254 (or #6160) $20, total out of pocket $48.95. After $65 MIR, net $16.05 "in-pocket" each. This was Sunday, last day for the MIR. My MSI K7T266Pro2 RU mainboard likes the 512MB just fine!
