This is a repost from several weeks ago, but the price is significatly lower:

Price is $60.95. Dell currently has 15% off of memory promotion bringing it down to $51.81. Groung shipping is FREE. And there's a $20 rebate!

End price $31.81

Kingston Card

SimpleTech Card

The Kingston and SimpleTech compact flash units are some of the fastest on the market which makes this deal even hotter!
heres 2 compact flash reviews...

there's actually a better deal. the simpletech is $65, - 15%, - $25 rebate = $30
and simpletech is higher quality, better performing than the kingston.

Not sure how did get the impression. At least all my Kingston SDRAM serve me very well, overclock better than those basic Mushkin I got.

In reply to S0ssos:

$2 isn't significantly cheaper in my opinion, and pre-rebate price is actually higher. The Kingston modules actually edge out the Simpletech units in the tests that I've seen. If you're basing it off of the review I linked too, you would be wrong, because the Simpletech unit they tested there was 512mb and Type II. The 256mb simpletech module at dell is type 1 (as is the Kingston). As for your claim of higher quality, I highly doubt that. Kingston is one of the world's best memory makers, and besides that compact flash units are very robust and breakage/failure is very uncommon even amoung lower quality brands. Either way though both of these modules are very fast and very inexpensive, you cant go wrong!

In reply to Sylikon, I'm not sure where you got the 4/18 date from....

The free shipping is good until May 1st
The 15% off is good until April 24th
The rebate is valid for purchases made between April 1st and April 30th

The $25 rebate on the Simpletech is valid on purchases until April 30th as well

Nice deal. I'm in on this one. BTW, I would go with Kingston before SimpleTech. Neither one are actual manufacturers but my experience with Kingston is 100% positive.

yep my 2x 128 MB CF cards are from Kingston for my camera and they work beautifully

Never heard of simpletech before though so I can't say much about that...

I haven't tried Kingston with my Canon S100 digital camera, but the Simpletech rocks with it. Simpletech + Canon = according to the reviews I've read, plus my own anecdotal evidence. The Sandisk and generics that I've tried are molasses slow compared to the Simpletech.

I've used 128mb modules of Kingston and Mr. Flash with my Canon S300...no problems...can't tell difference between them also.

In response to XLR8R...

I believe simpletech has been making flash memory cartridges for a much longer time than kingston. I remember back in my apple newton days they were around. This was even before kingston was even a major player in the ram department much less flash ram. I'm not saying simpletech is better than kingston per se, but I definitely do not believe kingston has any sort of edge over simpletech. As far as performance of these two units, you can compare both of them at link. He does a very in depth review of a large number of compactflash units and with canon and nikon cameras the simpletech is quite a bit faster than the kingston units.

The more i read abou the two units, the harder it is for me to choose between them. The simpletech does seem to outperform the Kingston, but its not clear whether the units Dell is offering are the same as ones in these reviews (they can change any time). One interesting thing I noted, however, is that Kingston offers a 5 year warranty on their cards while Simpletech only has a 1 year warranty. I'll probably end up getting one of each!

Bump

Kingston and SimpleTech rebates are far better than Viking's are.

I went with the assumption that it won't make a difference in my normal camera consumer level Canon S200 (it writes only compressed files anyway). I went with Kingston because the rebate terms are much better (relatively speaking).

256mb Kingston (and SimpleTech) Compact Flash CF $32 ($30) shipped from Dell - AR $20 ($25)

Translating

Kingston $32
Simpletech $30

Kingston rebate $20
Simpletech rebate $25

first 2 numbers are price AR and second 2 are the amount of the rebates, anything in parentheses is for simpletech and the others for kingston

I've the Kingston 256MB (bought for about $100, it was HOT deal back then). I used it regularly with my Canon S100 and it works flawlessly. Kingston + Canon =

I bet both Simpletech and Kingston will do just fine with regular digicam, unless you have the advance/D-SLR digicam that takes bunch of pictures in a second, I don't think this will be a real issue here.

Glad that I've put off the Viking deal!!

Ordered a Kingston 256MB. This hot deals forum is evil and has made my bank account rather anorexic

Question on the dual rebates. both require original receipt and upc. How would you go doing that for both?

I shouldn't be spending the money but couldn't resist this deal. Thanks???

Anyone else notice that the spelling for "should" and "could" seems really strange?
