2600+ @ 2.31ghz easy! from Fry's

Couple a weeks ago, Fry's (sd) had the shuttle an35n/2600+ combo for $139.99. I ended up getting this and the Patriot (elixir) PC3200 for $59 AR.

Cpu is AQXDA unlocked. I'm running 11.5x200 = 2.31ghz @ 1.75v. 39' idle with the thermalright slk-900. they o/c well.. . just a heads up to people looking for a good o/c cpu. 2500+ isn't all that.

that is a nice overclock but the 2500+ IS ALL that because it has the larger 512 L2 cache and has been known to hit upwards to 2.3 to 2.4 as well...

so there's really nothing special about a 2600+ @ 2.31

and you also have 256 less cache then a barton...

a 2.2 barton with 512 L2 cache is comparable to a 2.3 tbred with 256 L2 or something around there...

isnt the 2600 a barton. so in that case he DOES have 512 cache.

yea my 2600+ does have 512 l2 cache... chked it on si-sandra

so did you get an unlocked 2600?

knowing the FSB isn't locked and you'll run it at 200, assuming you have a pc3200, what is the multiplier set to? that is a locked one..is it locked at 11~11.5? because then there's nothing to worry about, but if it's locked at 10, then it's not really anything great

i have an 1800 and i'm running it at 200 fsb (with a pc3200) x 10 at the moment, and i plan to gradually increase the multiplier to 10.5~11 to get it up to a 2.2ghz (3200) so far it's stable,

the default vcore was at 1.5 but i increased it to 1.525 or 1.55 can't remember

so yeah, main question....wat is the locked 2600's multiplier locked to? and does anybody know which steppings aren't locked?

Be sure to experiment with your ram timings.

I'd been running my 1700+ at 10x230 for a long time at 11-3-2-2.0, and just recently found that it was stable at 10.5x230 by changing the timings to 11-3-3-2.0.
