That's where the engine in my 12 year old F150 ceased. Right up until it's last mile, it was the most reliable truck I've ever owned.

I may actually shed a tear when she's towed away.

Anything can be repaired. What was the cost for repair?

A completely rebuilt engine and heads can be had for three or four thousand bucks. It would be foolish to reuse any of the old moving parts, so figure another grand in sensors, pumps and what not. Then there is the issue of having a new engine mounted to a transmission with 266k on it. It just just doesn't make sense, a rebuilt transmission is probably in the $2500 range. Then there is the labor to put it all together.
While that was going on it would make sense to have the big dent in the left rear of the bed repaired. The other issue it that I need a truck Monday morning, and not just any truck. It needs to be set up to tow a trailer and have heavy duty lumber racks on it.

I bought a new truck instead. Mine blew up at 9:30 in the morning, I was driving my new one at 1:30 that afternoon.

Nice! Sorry it is gone but it did the job and I think you went the right direction.

Can't complain about the service I got out of my old truck. A lot of those miles were spent pulling a dump trailer and carrying very heavy loads.

That's pretty good. One of my wife's best friends has over 350,000 miles on her 2002 Lexus ES. Still on the original motor.

If the damn oil pump hadn't failed I'm pretty sure it would have cracked 300k.

Ford mod motors are very dependable motors. I've had three of them now and have over 600K between them.

What new truck did you get?

A white Ford F150 supercab long bed with a 5l V-8. I had wanted the ecoboost engine, but the only trucks in the state that have that engine are the SUV version, 4 door short bed with every bell and whistle that's ever been stuffed into truck.

Too bad you couldn't hold out for a 2015.

Then again, the discounts on the 2014's are tempting.

You can always pick up a used junkyard motor for far less. Still might not be worth it, but if everything else is in good shape its not super hard to swap a motor in.

I would never put unknown/used parts in mission critical equipment. Regardless, the deal is done. New truck is in the driveway, old truck is at the junk yard.

There's a guy over on InsightCentral who recently broke 750k on his original 1.0 3 banger and 5MT. Anything over 250 and I'm impressed, though.

I suppose, but it doesn't exactly make sense to put new parts in a vehicle with 266k on the clock unless its something commercial where you're planning on another couple hundred thousand out of it.
