266bus AMD cpu on a KT133

is anyone running an amd cpu designed at 266 bus speed on a KT133?

Im asking because im about to upgrade my cpu and 266 is cheaper than 200. I dont mind clocking it down to 200, and people have told me that its possible but I just want it confirmed. I have an Abit kT7 btw.

It will work fine. But when you boot it will detect a lower speed than it actually is because 133(266) has a smaller multipler than 100(200). Not a problem with the Abit KT7 however, you just change it in the BIOS.

really? i have a FIC AZ11 that's only has a 200mhz bus. my MB doesnt have multiplier or voltage control. so if i get a 1.4Ghz 266mhz cpu (10.5x multiplier), and set fsb in the bios to 133Mhz (133x10.5 = 1.4Ghz), that wouldnt be a problem? right now, i have my 800mhz duron o/c 832 (104fsb is the most stable). Even going to 106mhz fsb ill start to get errors once in awhle..

anyways, that would be awsome cuz ive also noticed some pretty good prices @ newegg on tbirds but they only have the 266mhz variety..

I believe that people have found that you can't set the FSB on the KT133 very high.

nope, it definitely won't work at 133 FSB. Like you said, 106mhz is unstable, which is very common for a KT133 board. If you have no way to change the multiplier, you'll have to change it by connecting bridges on the CPU. (I'm not talking about unlocking it...) If you don't, a 1.4ghz will run at 1050mhz.

I'd upgrade my mobo if I were you, a ECS SiS chipset costs 65$, and will perform better because you'll be using a faster FSB...

I said adjust multiplier in BIOS. No KT133 board will ever hit 133MHz. UCBPride has a KT7, so he can adjust the multiplier easily.
