266MHz FSB on low end CPU

I'm really excited by the new Athlon 266MHz FSB and the KT133A chipset. I don't want to buy a 200MHz FSB CPU anymore because there shouldn't be a big price difference. However, the 266MHz FSB seems to be only available for Athlon 1GHz or above and I don't want to spend top dollar for that extra hundred or so MHz. I'm also kind of concerned about the heat and cooling requirement. Does anyone know whether AMD will introduce the 266MHz FSB on slower Athlon or even Duron? BTW, I'm not interested in overclocking or doing the pencil trick or whatever.

I wouldn't count on AMD releasing a class 'C' chip for any MHz lower that 1200. That's simply cutting edge technology and we will all have to pay the price for it if we want it.

I agree it will be at least some time before we'll see the Duron with 266MHz FSB. AMD needs to distance Tbird from the Duron, to avoid cannibalizing which hurt ASP and profit margins.
I also doubt AMD will release lower speed Tbirds with 266MHz FSB because they can use the 266MHz FSB as selling point for the higher priced parts...

There are a lot of Junior Member newbies around here saying they don't want to overclock. Thats a dangerous thing to say around here.

I think that AMD has said that they won't be releasing any 266MHz FSB processors under 1GHz. So if you want to run a lower-clocked processor at 266MHz FSB, you're going to have to do the pencil trick and underclock it, or else hope that it can handle the increased speed.
