Is there any 27"-32" display capable of displaying 1080p (native preferred) currently on the market or at least coming soon?

I've seen the 37" Westinghouse unit in person and it is just a bit too big for my likes.

There're also Apple's and Dell's 30" 2560x1600 LCDs, but they'd of course require 1080p contents to be scaled up.

Just wondering if there are other alternatives. I'm mainly looking at (PC) gaming on a big screen.

I supposed that can be done on a 720p set as well. Let's say 1080p sets are out of questions, what 27-32" sets would people recommend right now? I'd personally prefer 1280x720 sets over *x768 sets.

Not sure of the West's price, but a quality HDTV at a good price is the Viewsonic 27-32" LCD HDTV's.

Those pics look very nice.

Can you please comment on the portability of the display, taking into account of both the weight and shape? How easy would it be to just take it out and throw it on the back seat of your car?

Also, are you satisfied by the comparatively low resolution, or somewhat feel restricted? How far do you have to sit away from the display?

Lastly, what happens if you feed it a 1280x720 signal? How well does it handle the scaling?

720P looks phenominal

I sit 6-8 feet back but could easily sit 3ft back and still be comfortable.

Hm not sure about portability, it is 32". I mean anything almost 3ft diagonal is not gonna be really portable.

i have a syntax olevia 30" and i love it, even though its limited to 1280x768. HL2, CSS, DoD2, FEAR, doom4, all look amazing at that resolution.

Generally people who want just a 1280x720 set want it because of hdtv

You say you are primarily gaming. I can see why you would not want a 1366x768 set (because of the difficulty getting 1:1 pixel mapping, varies with the actual model) but why not 1280x768?

I have a 27" ViewSonic N2750w which is a 720p set. It has poor stretch modes, so I couldn't recommend it for a TV (I'm using it as a TV currently in my bedroom)

I got it for my bedroom HTPC, which will have to wait until I finish aquiring parts for my new main PC. I did hook it up briefly to my PCIe rig in my sig and I was quite impressed with using it as a PC display.

It has excellent connectivety, with VGA/YPbPr and HDCP DVI. I didn't have a DVI cable, so used VGA instead, and it did overscan a border, cutting into the task bar a bit and about the same around the desktop.

The picture was very nice quality at the native 1280x720, blacks were a bit gray as compared to my CRT's, but for an LCD, I would rate it as very good. HD content was excellent of course, both 720p and 1080i broadcasts, as well as the 1080p demos I have.

Gaming was suprising good at 720p. I am used to playing some games on my RPTV, but primarily, I use a decent, but slowly fading Mitsu 22" CRT. I did observe that tearing was definately more noticable than the CRT (I rarely use Vsync), but its damn impressive at ~ 3' to 4' viewing distance. I look forward to connecting it back up to my HTPC, I wish I would have had more time for a more in-depth look, so I would definately do your research as there are other displays ~ that pricepoint.

It was a great value IMO ~ $750, and the price is even lower at Newegg last I checked. It deserves consideration in the 27" display category, but only when driven by decent PC using the PC's graphic cards scaling IMO.

I suppose 1280x768 is ok too. 1280x720 16/9 is just a preference =]
