Hi.. I am testing them out right now. I have XP Pro, G3 Ti-200, T-bird at 1.33 Ghz. My 3dmark jumped to 7124 from 6904 and everything seems to be stable so far. I believe the image quality has improved a little, at least Quake3 looks a little better to me anyway. Now I just have to figure out where Nview is? I wanted to play around with it some, I thought it came with the new drivers. I upgraded from 21.83s to the 27.42s

For some reason I am getting absolutely no increase in 3dmark 2001 score. Good image quality and stable. Anyone know how to get rid of desktop explorer?

I had these on for all of 5 minutes (just long enuff to get them off and reload 21.83's) Up until these the only driver probs I've run into were random BSOD's from 23.11 on up. Well, these gave me a BSOD right off the bat while installing, then I rebooted and NVMAX wouldn't load at all with them, some kind of errror regarding Detonator 20.0 series and later not installed, somthing like that. Also my Samsung LCD drivers wouldn't install at all. Put 21.83's on and everything is back to normal. I've got to quit screwing with these leaked beta's, one day one is going to bite me in the ass and cause real problems that I won't be able to fix in 5 minutes. Just a warning on these, take it or leave it.

My results: (Tested on two systems)
No stability issues with them, didnt have any porblems with the nv4_disp infinite loop bug.
All my games ran fine, as did the benchmarks.
All of my gaming benchmarks were very similar to my results with the 21.10's, the few minor differences were within the margin of error.

BUT... 2D performance STINKS!
Alpha blending performance is less then half that of the 27.10's, window layering half the speed, 2D blitting, scaling etc.
Any 2D benchmark I run performance has dropped considerably.

Tried it on another system too, same results. I'd love to know what they did to drop the 2D performance so much.

Going back to the 27.10's they run fine as well, and they don't display the crappy 2D performance.

Admittedly very few things stress 2D performance nowadays... but I'd like to have the performance for when I need it.



Another thread about the new drivers, with another person noticing the very poor 2D performance.

I tried the Nvidia 23.11's and suffered from the loop bug.
Then I tried the 27.42's and have had nothing but success.
My GF3 is running fine so far @ 255/560 using NVmax.

no good for me. first time I got a blue screen, second time gave me 7050, with my old 21.81 Det I get 7120 sharp. I have a Elsa Gforce 3 OC 245/535

IMHO-yes. Their solid, with no real compatibility problems at all. They performance as good as the 27.42 in 3D, have the slightly better DirectX of the 27.XX series and nView, and without suffering the poor 2D performance of the 27.42's.
Personally, I've found them to have the best qualities of all the drivers revisions mixed into one.

Thanks Rand. I installed them awhile ago. I ran UT, SS, RTCW. All seem fine. 3DMark2K1 score is about the same as 23.12, but I got a big increase in High Polygon Count (1 light and 8 lights) which BTW, does not count in the benchmark score. Anyone else see this?

I installed them a few hours ago but promptly pulled them because the 60 Hz refresh fix in Riva Tuner stopped working. However I might have made a mistake in the installation order so I'll try it again later.

No, I found the 2700, 2710 and 2720 drivers to be slower than the the 2312s in games. Also quite often my gamma correction adjustments switched back to normal when I launched games. Hopefully the 2742s will fix this.

I guess I'm getting lazy. I used to run a bunch of benches each time a new driver came out. With a new one every week or so, it gets old. 27.10s seem pretty good. The usual Nv refresh rate fix works. RTCW seems faster by watching the cg_drawFPS "1", but thats not an exact test by any means. Is there a bench that works in retail RTCW? It's the most demanding game I have now. It would be a good test.

The driver structure has been changed considerably since the last release. Also, I know about the problems with ASUS and LeadTek drivers. geez....I had problems with it!
I installed the drivers, tehn rebooted, when it booted up (win2K) it stopped at the Windows 2000 screen, but it continued loading windows, I knew it loaded windows because I could hear the sound when it goes to the desktop, that raindrop sound or whatever. I had to go into VGA mode to boot to see anything, download 21.83 drivers, and after several tries, success. Not trying those ones again......

Yeah, those drivers are definitely stuck at 60 Hz. Even Riva Tuner RC10 which has support for the 27xx drivers isn't able to fix the issue.

but thats not an exact test by any means. Is there a bench that works in retail RTCW
