PC Liquidator has the gateway 27 inch Destination monitor for $399. I have one of these things and wow are they neat! - I paid more in the store but did not have to pay for the UPS on a 100+ Pound shipment.

Update: I emailed pcliquidator about the fact that thier price is higher than the geeks and the email I got back was that the price was going down this weekend? I asked for a credit for my diff, but no luck (it couldn't hurt to ask)

I am still happy with my unit!

Update 2: Price is now lower!

Has VGA and Composite Inputs

probably makes for a very sharp and good looking TV, but a not-so-good monitor.

The catch is you cannot ship the 36 incher. You have to pick it up in Oceanside. (I live fairly nearby).

What good is the 27 incher as a computer monitor? Seriously. 800x600 is not a great resolution (is it?)

EDIT: Opps, I was wrong (again) the 36 inch CAN be shipped but not by UPS.

It looks like a cheap way to get a High Definition Television (with a PC-TV Tuner Card).

Seriously, how would this 27 inch be as a day-to-day computer monitor? I imagine graphics would suck, but gaming and DVD's would be awesome.

Any links to reviews on these?

How do you use yours, hardwarejunkee?

From the resolution that I'm hearing it does, it sounds like it's actually a regular run of the mill NTSC TV and not a monitor. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

is it still hard to read words @ 800x600 on a 27"? I know on my 32" running 640x400 using a tv out card it was still pretty hard to read

We had one of the 36" Destination packages at work and it was real nice for playing games (PSX & computer) and also watching TV/Movies. Using the internet was ok if you were kind of far away (like watching a normal TV) but if you are up close it doesn't look that good.

I had a wireless keyboard w a built in mouse wannabe thing on my 35" Sony Trinitron a while back and even from <10 feet away it just wasn't cutting it. We have true to life 35" Mitsubishi monitors that we pay a crap load of money for at work in our Command Center and they look beautiful from wherever. The built in TV tuner (in the monitor not the computer) is cool for the weekends when no one's around

Now I am getting tempted.

800x600 is better than the best regular televisions. I am thinking of getting a (relatively cheap Hi-res) 27 incher (or possibly 36 incher) just for gaming and watching DVDs.

Give me some ideas. How would I use this beast ALONG with my regular monitor for graphics and regular computing. (Video card is Radeon 64 VIVO - I guess I also would need a TV tuner card to watch regular tv).

Help please.

So would the 27" Gateway Monitor (Grade A from Computer Geeks) look better than say a Sony WEGA? Very interesting stuff here!

this monitor would be great for a dual monitor set-up. your regular monitor for internet, and this monster for DVD/TV viewing. now, does anyone know any good deals on a video card with 2 monitor hook-ups?

I think Matrox makes one. Maybe the Radeon LE (but I'm not sure).

Is there a box that will allow for switching between monitors? I certainly don't mind rebooting.
