OUch!!!! OEM??? I can get a 2.66ghz p4 for under that price and it will easily hang with that....Plus the Intel is a retail chip and you will have to buy a hsf, so the price diff gets like 50-60 bucks....

Want to guess where the 2700 will oc to??? I guess not much better then the 2400's are so probably only 2.4ghz with reasonable vcore and cooling...I bet the 2.66ghz gets to 3.2ghz with reasonable vcopre and cooling....

AMD no bang for the buck on this one!!!!

I think the 2.53 and 2.4ghz chips also beat theuir amd counterparts of 2400+ and 2600+.......

I still haven't been seeing any impressive amd ocing around these parts, and I would have expected some major bragging by now if they were the Cats Meow!!!

Man I agree here. My 2400 runs @ 333 2175mhz now and is stable. Not the value that I hoped for, but I believe that by the time we get to 3500+, that the investment shall be worth the $s then.

Sorry to hear that...I was hoping you were going to get 2.3ghz stable at least!!!! Yields may improve and you did get an early one....

even as an amd user, i'd have to agree with duvie on this, amd really needs to improve their fab processor before we see anything comparable to P4 overclock

Intel has a much larger research budget, thats why their fab process is so much better

until i see some insane overclocks on default voltage from amd, I'll keep what i have for now

The new AMD chips aren't turning out as well as everyone was hoping for...

I guess the next move is back to Intel, seeing these new C1 overclocks...

You act like overclocking is mandatory to get performance. You know some guys can't do all that much with overclocking. I have some cheap ass samgsung ram and its crap at overclocking, won't even let me go pas 140FSB in Windows XP. I doub't a 2.6 P4 could beat an XP 2700+ on nForce2 anyway.

The P4 2.8 didn't beat the XP 2800+ @ tomshardware, (the infamous Intel biased site )

then get new ram. if you wanna oc, then you gotta have quality components. if you dont have the money for quality components i'd suggest you not oc so you dont tear up what you do have. its just like people with shitty cars that drive them too hard and kill them, dont abuse it unless it can take it!

of course oc's is mandatory for performance, why would i want to buy a xp2200 for 150 bucks when i can just oc a xp1600 for 60 bucks. furthermore, oc'ing ability gives hte end user an idea as to the architecture design ceilings, and how well the chips will be able to scale.
