2700 vs. 3200 speed RAM...worth the price difference?

I could get 1gig of 2700 RAM for the price of 512mb 3200 RAM. Which option would be better? Does the 3200 have a huge performance increase?

If you are not running a 400/800mhz fsb cpu or are overclocking (and don't plan to either in the future), I say take the PC2700.

If you won't overclock, the 3200 will do you no good, aside from futureproofing.

You won't be running the 3200 at 3200 with that processor, without overclocking. You'd be running it at 2700.

2700 = 333 FSB
3200 = 400 FSB

if its crucial ram you should be able to push that 2700 up easily....

I got some in January (2x256) and i'm at 184 FSB at 2.6v (mobo overclocks automatically) and i'm being held back only by the PSU...and my timings haven't had to be loosened at all...

So sometimes its more quality rather than speed

I would get some premo 2700 instead, why spend more $$ on something you won't be taking advantage of?

Pc2700 is rated for the Bus speed of a AMD 2500 Barton. If you want a faster Bus speed which would require overclocking then you would want faster ram like PC3200. If your CPU does not run n-sync with your RAM then it is pointless.
