if its crucial ram you should be able to push that 2700 up easily....
I got some in January (2x256) and i'm at 184 FSB at 2.6v (mobo overclocks automatically) and i'm being held back only by the PSU...and my timings haven't had to be loosened at all...
Pc2700 is rated for the Bus speed of a AMD 2500 Barton. If you want a faster Bus speed which would require overclocking then you would want faster ram like PC3200. If your CPU does not run n-sync with your RAM then it is pointless.
