I was getting 27fps in Crysis with 4850, I was hoping for at least 50+fps in it, but instead all I got is 32fps, using latest forceware from guru3d.com, seriously I thought the 280 gtx should be alot faster..

LOL!

...er... sorry...uh... what resolution? AA? AF?... possibly limited a bit by the CPU(low l2 cache).... kinda sounds normal for Crysis; low FPS is the new 60 for that game...

I own a GTX 280.

Don't run the game in DX10 -- use DX9
Use tweakguides' final section for crysis for very high on the cheap

I do, I tweaked it alot, this is still no excuse for how slow the cards running for the price I paid, I'm gonna try different drivers but I doubt it'll boost the fps, and I hate rearranging my desktop icons again and again..

Never use AA in Crysis, use edge AA for a smaller performance hit and more smoothing in foliage. Look for a custom config on inCrysis.

...because your asking us how to fix crysis in general. The game is poorly optimized and your expectations are WAY to high. On top of that your overclocked budget processor isn't helping either.

Also, maybe you should take your head out of your ass and read reviews and you would know this already. It ain't me you be smellin'.

Now I will remember you and not answer any of your questions. Do your own research.

crysis doesn't run well on any single card. only SLI/CF and multiGPU cards are decent.

lol what does crysis have to do with your desktop icons? Not a single card out there can run cysis at 50fps.. nothing can. If you spent alot of money to buy the card you should have researched it first....

http://images.anandtech.com/gr...061408203021/17059.png no card can even get over 40fps.

You are trying to run the most graphically intensive game at the 2nd highest resolution with a crap load of AF, and yet you expect a ridiculous amount of fps.

And what made you think the 280 had twice the performance of the 4850?

If you're made of money and want to SLI a couple GTX260 or GTX280 cards then you can break 50fps at 1920x1080

He wasn't talking about crysis there; he keeps trying different drivers. So when he uninstalls the old driver; his screen resizes to a small resolution and when he re-installs the drivers, they're all now out of place; depending on where he likes the icons.

In any case OP is moronic for whining about his OC'd GTX280 doesn't get 50 FPS in Crysis @ 19X12; with 8x AF when no single card on the market will; unless you drop the resolution to like 1280X1024 and settings to a low/medium level.

Serves him right though for not doing ANY research on this subject matter though.

Actually, if you have an SLI motherboard dual GTX 260s have gotten pretty reasonable.

geeze, all he needs is another GTX280 if he has a SLi board .. any brand will do for SLi; i just paid $390 [after $20 MiR] for my BFGtech 280
- not bad for a $650 card, two months ago

Those aren't even on the Very High detail settings, as I understand it GTX 280 SLI barely breaks 30fps at 1920x1200 Very High, and this is average framerate, not minimum, which will drop down to single digits.

1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF
GTX280, 3.6GHz C2D - 14.0fps average, 8fps minimum

http://www.pcgameshardware.com...647641&image_id=839029

1680x1050 4x AA 16xAF

GTX280, 4GHz C2D - 17.5fps average, 12fps minimum
http://www.pcgameshardware.com...647744&image_id=839048

With Crysis you need about a ~5GHz C2D with SLI GTX280 to keep it consistently above 20fps on a larger than 20" monitor. And I'm not exaggerating here.

^^^^exactly why I played through it once @ 1650x1080 with CCC mod on high and won't return to it until I get a 4870x2 or the next best card. It's a fun game, but not worth upgrading my comp for hundreds of $$$$$ to get it to run very high @ my native res. 1920x1200

I did read reviews from plenty of sites, it is said the card should be a faster than the 4870 in Crysis, but now it feels almost the same.

Faster than 4870 != <50FPS.

<50FPS = SLI'd GTX280's.

Now stop trying to troll, you've got numerous answers here all of them say the same. Your expectations are too high for a single card, and if you bother to look at reviews like you claim you have you will notice your card is perfectly within average of what you have. In fact that only reason why yours would dip just below is because of your budget processor with low L2 cache and weak OC; it is also possibly bottlenecking your GPU...

If you don't like the answers your getting, maybe you should just keep telling yourself that so you can feel your purchase was worth it and stop pissing and moaning when it's working just as it should.

I did look at the anandtech and hardocp review of the 280, my 4850/4870 does about 27/33fps in Crysis, I just hoped it could've break 40~50

That game eats any video card you use and spits it out on the floor. Don't be alarmed its normal for that devil of a game

Just to clarify here then.
If you did look at the reviews. Where did the reviews give you the expectations to run >=50FPS with a Single GTX 280 @ 1920x1200?

Clearly your expectations was off. I'm just curious why they were off as you claim to have done your research by looking at reviews and so on.

You got the best videocard on the market (single core). It's as fast as my 2 overclocked 8800GTs. Crysis is a poorly written, resource-hogging piece of trash. It should be taken off the market and rewritten. Don't base your decision on whether or not you bought the right videocard on Crysis. You did and I'm jealous!LOL! Unreal Tournament 3 has better graphics than Crysis and runs 3 times faster. Try that game instead.
