hey guys,
i'll be honest with you. almost a year ago i spilled coolant all over my motherboard while trying to change it (the coolant). it was bad. unfortunately to coolant was even distilled water and the pc was on because, i was pretty much an idiot. anyway, for three months after that, the whole pc did nothing when the power button was pressed. then one day it decided to completely turn on and for a while everything was totally fine.
well starting since about a month ago now, it's started to have issues again. the system time hasn't been keeping up, i replaced the battery but the issue seemed to persist. also, and this is the most bizarre pc issue i've ever seen, twice now, only in the morning, the pc wouldn't do anything when the powerbutton was pressed, just like when i first dumped the coolant. no fans, no lights, nothing. twice this happened. twice i opened it up, reseated everything, switched cords around what have you. and both times the damn machine just started up by itself a couple hours after i gave up trying to get it to turn on.
NOW, it turns on just fine, but the graphics card is now having issues. 3 red led's stay continuously lit, two on top and one on the bottom right under the power ports, although that one goes off after about a minute. i've reseated it dozens of times, and no possible position makes it happy, i've also tried every combination of pcie cables i can, using the 6 pin and an 8 pin, the 6 pin with the other 8 pin, and even both 8 pins, using one as a 6 and one as the 8, both ways. so i'm fairly certain it's not a cable issue unless 2 out of 3 just suddenly went dead overnight. so it's either the vid card is just dead for some reason (which i hope is what it is since it's the least pain in the ass to replace), the mobo finally has had enough of my shit from the coolant spill and the pcie slot is done for some reason, or something's wrong with the psu (which seems unlikely since everything else powers up fine.
Sorry for the wall of words, i'm just waiting on some parts to troubleshoot with and it's making me anxious, not knowing whats wrong. just looking for some basic input. any is helpful, and thanks for reading my post.
My hardware:
thermaltake kandalf water-cooled case
antec 1000watt psu

2gb mushkin ddr2 pc-8500 (ram is not the issue, trust me i just know)
wd raptor 150
