Well, I'm adding another chapter to my 2900XT saga.
I went into Best Buy for the second time in 3 days to see if someone could help me to secure the VisionTek 2900XT. The first time I talked to someone who obviously didnt know what he was talking about and he was the only guy in the computer dept and basically told me there was nothing he could do for me. This time, I talked to a guy who actually attempted to help me.
He got on his computer and looked up the card and informed me that he could in fact order the card for me through their internal website. He even told me the exact date that the card would be in stock and shipped from their regional warehouse (I'm going to keep this date to myself in case it is the same day it will be available on the website). So I'm thinking ot myself, "Awesome finally gonna get this damn card". Low and behold, here comes the bad news. He tells me that I would have to pay the full price of $399.99 and they would not honor the online sale price.
Does this sound right? I dont think so since many of you who bought the 2900XT the first time they had it for $320 said they went into the B&M store and the sale price was honored.
Do I need to go into Best Buy a third time and ask to speak to the GM himself?
I'm currently in an e-mail battle with their CS dept, so we'll see how that goes.
good luck.
it sounds like a bait and switch. i've been waiting to jump on the $316 special, but i guess it's back to watching for 8800 specials at other stores.
