The 295x2 can guzzle 500w alone. That would leave 150w for the remainder of the system which is enough if you aren't overclocking.

If you had a modern PSU that can do all 650W on 12V it would be conceivable. However, I wouldn't recommend it.

When you really think about it, this is a fantastic price. When in the history of gaming have you even been able to get two of the highest end water-cooled GPUs for $300 a pop? I'm really tempted by this...but my ancient Phenom II system would only take one breath before letting out the last of it's magic blue smoke.

Well technically every single generation since HD4870 until HD7970Ghz you could get even 4 of the highest end AMD cards all water-cooled for $0 due to Bitcoin mining.

I agree that it's a good deal in light of 970 SLI having VRAM stuttering issues and 980 SLI being barely 12-15% faster for DOUBLE the price. I still think we will see this card for $500 in the next 3-5 months when it goes on final clearance. HD7990 went down to $325-375 and it launched at $999.

But even at $500 a pop, would someone take a $600 R9 390X or $700 GM200 with 80% of the performance to not deal with CF scaling issues? Tough call also because we've seen after-market 290X already for $250 a pop. 295X2 is severely CPU limited until 1440p and higher:

It's amazing though how quickly GPUs fall in price. Mid-Nov 2013 a single 780Ti was $699 and now this is 60-70% more peformance for $600!
