32MB Fixed or upgrade shared".

Maybe it's an AGP slot and not PCI Express. I found the same series computer at Compgeeks (it has a 3300+ cpu but the series is still the 135), and it says in the specs it's an AGP slot. Acer 135 at Compgeeks

Even so, the Dell E521 is a better deal. Socket AM2, 4 DIMM's for DDR2 memory, PCIe x16 slot, and a power supply that does 18A on each of two 12V rails. The only problem with the E521 is that it does not support dual slot video cards. There is also only one free 4pin connector, so one would need an adaptor to run a higher-end video card. Oh, and there are no PATA connections on the E521 motherboard, so optical drives must be SATA.

I have a laptop that does word processing and browsing without difficulty using 256mb. That said, for the $20 it will cost to get a 512mb chip off of ebay it will make a huge difference.
What really turns me off from this is the integrated graphics combined with a lack of both AGP and PCI-E.

From the pictures on newegg it appears to have one or the other. Can't tell for sure which though.

Yup, any optical drive purchased with an E521 will be SATA. Again, no PATA connections are on the motherboard.
