thats why we need ATI aka R600 to be good.. else Nvidia is just going to keep jacking up prices..

thats good news but it also sucks for me. I just bought a Radeon X1950XT like 3 weeks ago. On the other hand, i get amazing performance with that card so complaining would just be greedy on my part i suppose. I think it would be kind of like getting an '06 Ferari and then compaining because the '07 Ferari came out shortly afterwards. Ill just save up for the next year and get the something that will probably be better than the G80 and the R600.

Oh well, sometimes that's how it goes. But alteast you still have the x1950XTX, which will do you good for quite a while.

I'm glad I canceled the step-up for the gtx card this past Dec 06.
This looks more like more bang for buck kind of card for me. Remember the 7900gto back in Sept 06?

Already own an 8800GTX, so no need here. Although, it does sound like quite a nice deal! You can get 2 of em for less than I paid for mine .

It's not going to do much to the X1950pro. Big price disparity there = different markets segments.

Kinda true. However, one is DX9 and the other is DX10. Don't know how much of a compliment DX10 is in the short term as we need to see some DX10 games. Long term, it might be worth it to cough up the extra broccoli for the 320MB GTS.  .....Dunno

More choices = better for everybody. It should be interesting to see benches and find out how much of an impact the reduced memory really has on current games at various resolutions.

Is anyone even buying the X1950XTX these days? Most people would spend the few extra bucks and get the 8800GTS 640.

And if this thing arrives on time, then I think:

1) X1950XT 256MB will be at $200-$225, fighting off 7950GT with periodic IRs and MIRs.
2) X1950Pro 256MB will be at $150-$175, fighting off the 7900GS

It appears ATi won't have any share of the market over the $225 price-point. And the mid-range segment will continue to be a tough fight, although ATi seems to have the stronger cards there. This delay from them is really turning the market into a one-sided affair.

Yea, but you can't underestimate the time dedicated to actually gaming and using your card opposed to waiting for the next best deal.

This could make things interesting...though I've been looking at the new 27" lcds and the 1080p 37"-42" lcds for awhile so those might require a higher end card to run the newest games.

Yea, I don't think 320MB will quite suffice 1920x1200, atleast not for some of the titles coming out this year.

On the plus side, it seems like Geforce 8800GTS(640MB) and 8800GTX prices have come down in the few months about $50 from their MSRP.

I don't know about that, got any links?

We saw the drastic price drops in the 7800 line following their release because they were so much smaller and cheaper (to produce), but that's not so much with G80.

Even though they have fallen $50 from their MSRP, I think $299 will be the bottom, atleast for the 8800GTS (even with half the memory).

Not that $299 is something to complain about (atleast not for an GF8800GTS)
