I have 2 GB of OCZ Platinum 2-3-2-5 with this kind of memory in XP Pro SP2, do I really need to bother with a page file?

THANKS

We can tell you to search but you probably won't (since you clearly haven't already).

We can tell you to leave it system managed, but then you'll say something about how you read some website that had a magic formula for the perfect pagefile size.
Then Nothinman or n0cmonkey will point out that few people know what they're talking about when it comes to pagefiles and virtual memory.
Then some n00blet will come in insisting that he knows the ideal pagefile settings.
In the end the thread will die and someone else will start the cycle over in about a day.

MrChad just answer the question please, I'm not some PC noob, I've been in computing 20 years, but HEY guess what you LEARN something new everyday don't you.

I know many things about this subject but I want to hear what people have to say about it here. Yes I have been on Google more then once over this, in the past 7 years I'd say.

THANKS

Oh he did huh, sounds like someone being a smart A.. to me.

And you don't run it "System Managed", that's all I'll say, since he didn't Google either or give a good answer, since he knew it all but didn't realise I knew something too.

Anyhow so much for the 3 Ring Circus in here today.

ALOHA & THANKS

I was being a smart ass, but this question gets posed constantly on this forum, and it's frustrating to have to repeat yourself over and over again.

MrChad so who said you had to answer this post, or look at it, did I? No you made a choice to come to my post so if you do, then please act respectable. I'm not a kid, nobody forced you into anything, or made you do something against your will. It was your free choice. If you're bothered then it's your own fault, so please don't come around my threads pissing anymore, have respect for a man, because that is what I am and I'll respect you like one too, if you act like one.

How about some respect for the users of this forum? If you can't be bothered to even scan the first page of the forum, much less search for your question before posing it, why do you expect anyone to want to help you?

You guys don't get it and I'm sorry I did not explain fully. I have seen the articles in here and have done research on it, but I didn't like what I was seeing. so I made another post to try and drum up some more talk on the subject, but I didn't expect people to treat me rude.

There should never be a problem in wanting to discuss previous matter. Any subject can be a new subject for someone, even if others have seen it before. It is not right for one person, or a few to jump on someone, there are plenty of people that use this forum that do not keep up with it as often as others, so many things that seem old and tiresome to some is still new news to others.

At least someone could of just kindly said something for me to post it, as a reply in one of the other posts.

No one here is acting like a child except the ones dishing it out to me. Respect for users on this forum, I have plenty of respect. I have been on this fourm a few years and I have never treated anyone but with respect. BUT if someone didn't like this post all over, then no one had to participate in it and treat me with disrespect.

I'll say it again I did not force anyone to read this post, or answer anything, that was your choice, so if you make it, then at least act civil and don't assume that I haven't done my homework, or that I don't respect anyone, that is plain childish, because I have done plenty of it over the years.

Anyhow why don't we all just chill a bit ok.

THANKS

Which was the other part of MrChad's response... You read an article...

DasFox, some of us are serious OS types. For over 13 years, I was the 32-bit OS guy and created all of the OS builds for a very large company (50k+ installs a year). So, cut us a little slack too. We really meant it and understand it. Your sig says why you have issues with the responses.

Who says I'm not cutting anyone any slack, I never started anything. I just made a post asking a question is all. I'm not upset with anything or anyone, I'm only talking and asking to others what you are saying to me, as in hey why aren't they cutting me some.

I've been in computing 20 years I know the deal and I'm never rude to anyone. I help people and I never piss on them, or cut them down, it isn't right and I never jump in on something that I have seen hundreds of times to make someone feel like a fool with like, HEY man we've seen it 20 thousand times. Well I say who cares, is it really bothering someone, taking it personal, that someone is saying the samethings over? If so then someone has a streak of immaturity. I mean it sure seems like it at times , just like in IRC that so people take it all so personal.

Lets all act like we're at least over 10 years of age, because I am and with my Sig I'm not sure I understand, but basically it's for this very thing, people going off that can't act mature and act like they know it all. Coping a attitude on others and GEEE WHIZ I saw this post 100 times this WEEK, aahhhh I can't stand it, I'm going to give that Fox a piece of my mind, sheesh man GROW UP!

Anyhow like I said I'm cool, not pissed, mad, or any of the above. GUYS I'm 45 years of age, with a wife and 3 kids, 14, 12, and 8, if you think I'm steaming, or getting pissed, or upset, then man I tell you what I have some problems for my age and I don't.

Men will say what's on their mind and talk like men and act like men, while others get upset around them for lack of maturity, taking things personal. NO one needs to take anything to heart or get personal, but boy they sure do, that's called being immature.

Just remember I'm a man and act like one and treat others with respect, so please excuse me if I didn't notice all the posts, because I'm not always here all the time and neither are alot of people.

Let's all just stop assuming we aren't trying, and that we are like 12 years of age, new to all of this.

OK, so now can we move on PLEASE and be everyone just be COOL!

THANKS

ALOHA

OK guys, I think that we can put this issue to rest, and let him to get his answer, even though it was posted before and searching in Google will give many more answers.
Personally, I leave my system to manage my VM/PAGE FILE. Why? you might ask, simple, why not. It does not hurts your system nor decrease the performance, especially is you have 2 GIGS of RAM, chances are that WINDOWS will not need to use the PAGE FILE, and if it does your system has plenty of horse power that you will not notice anything.
Scott, I hope that my answer will help you, and if someone disagree with me, just say it, avoiding any more confrontations or misunderstanding.

best regards

Eltano
