Even if what you state is true, you're talking about SLI. Apples to oranges when discussing Vram limitations.

No. Going SLI will not increase your vRam capacity, but will in crease your raw graphics processing. You will be able to get more from your cards, but if your limited in vRam you only limit what the SLI setup can do. Theres a reason the 780's have 3GB. If you run dual 760's or 770's theres no reason not to go 4GB as you will have the same power as the 780 or more...

I had a screenshot of my HD 7950 using 2200mb VRAM in BF4 @ 1080p. If I still have it I will dig it up at home. I could imagine a 2gb card may see texture popping.

I have no issue on Ultra @ 1080p with my 760s.

Using and needed are not equivalent.

No no and no to what? No he wont double FPS, but it will be a huge boost. Other than that????

BTW I hit the wall with my 560ti last night. Added a few new mods and sat at 1900mb+ the entire time. Lots of stutter while turning and loading new areas. One area was at 2040MB constant and would cause CTD after a minute or so. Cant wait for the 780 to show up...

No to Sli, no to 1440p, and no to double the FPS

Remember the original poster is not upgrading for 3 years after this purchase. Would you want to buy a 770 4gb card now and then another in 3 years? (2017) I wouldn't.

The 780 has 3gb vram to match its raw performance which pretty significant to 680/770.

GTX570 is going to be 4 years old in November. Bad example.

GTX570 started to become VRAM limited well over a year ago, when it was 2 years old. It is 3 years 2 months old as off right now, did you forget Nov is 10 months away?

I wouldn't too.

I am not willing to do SLI/CF, that's not for me and it's something that only works if you have an ultra-end vga and an ultra credit card.

I have a 6870 1GB since 2011, and it is still running 70% of all games on ultra-high 60 frames at 1080p.

But today I would NEVER buy another 6870, it lacks both performance and vram.

In 2017 either with a 770/280X I still wouldn't buy another one for the same reasons.

You want a 780 with a budget for a 770 basically. Just get the 770 2GB if you dont ever plan to SLI or go 1440p or dont plan on doing texture mods to games or dont plan on playing 2015 games on ultra settings.

It's been almost two years since the 600 series was released and they are still relevant and being bought for SLI. There is no reason to not consider picking up another card for cheaper a few years from now to SLI. It will not be cost prohibitive really in any way. Granted the OP has now stated he doesnt want to, but his reasoning is moot 2-3 years from now.

The 770 can be OC'd to sit very close to the 780 performance wise out of the box...
