Ok I really thouht I had this licked -- I am running a new AMD X2 3800+ on my Msi neo2 Plat (still AGP). I installed 4 X 512 od Corsair RAM really thinking that I would be now able to run at 1T with the OFFICIAL speed of the RAM. I am not talking of overclocking my CPU or RAM yet... i just want to run my stupid RAM at the stated speed of 2.5,3,3,8. However NO NO NO... nada... niente... nien. I have to run at CAS 3 and most of all 2T.
I sold my older AMD64 3200+ winchester as I read that it was the actual CPU that was not allowing me to run the 4 DIMMS at the same time. Now with the AMD X2 3800+, it runs... but at the lowest settings. Thus what do I need to do folks... change the board to a Nforce4 chipset? Get a better power supply... sell my 4 DIMMS and get 2 X 1024 (which I find so hard to find with really great timings without costing a mint).
Any ideas folks>?
I guess I should add that I would LIKE to run my RAM as fast as possible and I am still clueless if I should be hoping to get my ram to tighter lower latency timings such as 2-3-2-5 or try to match my RAM's speed to say my 250 Mhz HT. If I get RAM that is rater at 3200 (200 Mhz) but costs a boat load like OCZ or HYper or whatnot... does that mean that even though they say PC3200 that it can be overclocked to say 240 Mhz? My Corsair that I have currently is value brand and pretty much over 210 it would not work (when I had only 2 sticks).
