What do you guys think? I emailed them about the chips but they said they can't give out the manufacturer/model because of a contract that allows them to sell at these prices. Very good reseller ratings of 9.6 though.

Anyone ever seen these chips? HCC40010242HDC-K. Looked on google but can't find anything :/

While the chips may be fine, their "contract" is a bit sketchy.

A contract that prevents them from revealing the manufacturer/model? HA! What self-respecting company would prevent its name from being revealed? I suspect the person you communicated with simply did not know, or didn't want to tell you because they are a third party brand.

This is not a thread-crap- The price is good for those specs. I just had to chuckle about the contract part...

Interesting... looks like hardcorecooling.us has cleaned up their act, a 9.60 is pretty good. But there excuse for not divulging who makes the chips is very weak. After all, why do you think they sell all their dram w/heatsinks? Hmmm...

I'd say it's an overall good deal, as long as it doesn't have a "warranty void if removed" sticker on the heatsinks. IMO, not allowing the customer to know what chips they are buying/bought is unexceptable.

they have a great reseller rating, and i bought these exact same sticks of ram about 2 months ago (for about 30 less, must have gone up in price.)


but they are good, and i called first to ask the brand, and they said it was their house brand, but it has the right timings and everything

I bought a pair of 512MB PC3200 sticks from them a year or two ago and they're great sticks - even today. When I go them, I thought they were shady since they ended up shipping chips from a different company than what was advertised, but I researched them and it turned out that the chips I got were supposedly better than what was advertised. I don't know if they're a company I would trust with a lot of hardware, but I wouldn't mind giving them another try since they did good with that purchase.

Thats not to say that they're not still going up...

This looks like a good deal... I'm still going to go with higher quality stuff, but I think you can feel safe buying this... If it doesn't perform like you want, you can return it. No restocking fee even... So it might be good idea to check it out... Anyone want to be our guinea pig?:evil:

That looks a bit shaky. I would much rather have two of the 512MB PC4000 HyperX sticks at BB for $99 (per) right now.

These do CL2-2-3-7 @ 2T. I haven't tried tighter timings, but it will not do 1T (even at 2.8v). So because of this it falls short of many of the other sticks. However, it will do Cl2-2-3-7 @ 2T at 2.5v instead of the standard 2.65v if your MB supports it.

That was quite relevant to the subject, people wanted to know what timings these sticks would do.
