Don't think there'll be any monster cable debate here, but i can assure you a *cheap quality* 20 foot dvi cable will transmit a nasty picture on a big screen, especially a projector .

The key is length, any ole crappy 10 foot dvi/hdmi cable will work just fine, but DVI/hdmi cables are definitely not created equal when >15 foot lengths are involved.

The "digital is digital" is just a myth when concerning video, audio is somewhat of a different story but even digital audio can have it's own anomolies to deal with.

That's actually the nice thing about the monoprice cables. They are good quality for any price and really good quality for their price. Well built, no noise etc, at least over the shorter lengths I've used them over.

Don't worry, people in here seem reasonable enough to not start a MONSTER RULZ!!! debate.

It's a digital signal what could monster cable or any other highend cable do that a basic digital cable can't?

I second to that when it comes to length. Shielding and termination are factor to why it costs so much with some other quality cables. Granted, there is lot of markup on these cables. If you go to BB or Fry's, these 6ft length cost over $100. Now that's a rip off!

I finnally registed after being a troll for a long time just to tell how impressed I am with monoprice cables. I purchased a 50ft HDMI to DVI 24gaugecable for my projector and it works great. Since then I have recommended them to a few freinds everyone has been happy with there products.

Digital signals are prone to their own types of interference, especially over longer runs, and when transmitting higher resolutions.

I think you meant "lurker" and not "troll" . But If what you are saying is 100% true, then that is impressive beyond any doubt. Are you sure you're not seeing any digital anomolies such as bright "sparklies" or "blocks" all over the place?

I have Monoprice's 15' DVI single-link cable which worked fine at XGA resolution, and will soon test it on my new Sanyo Z2 projector @ 1280x720p. I've belatedly read @ avs that people have seen sparklies on their projected image when using this same cable (crosses fingers).

I do like Monoprice, i've been shopping with them for nearly two years, and promote them heavily, i'm not afilliated though!

Lurker me be indeed.

I'm also a regular "lurker" over at the avsforum, same username.

On my Sony HS3 I'm sending it 720P and the image looks fine no blocking or sparkles and I'm always looking for that kind of stuff. I run Mythtv so I'm always tweaking my settings for best Image I can get.

I have also used this cable for my Sisters AE700 connected to a cable box and get the same great results.

When I first received the cable I chuckled at how fat it is.

One thing to note; there are two versions available a 24 gauge and a 28 gauge.
For any long distance run I would always get the thicker (lower gauge is thicker) so I have the 24 gauge.

Good info datobin, and thanks for that heads up. Will keep those cables in mind for future reference.

I do wonder how well Monoprice's RG-59 based component cables work @ 25' foot lengths. Does anybody know cable engineering well enough to pick out flaws in RG-59 based design? The end connectors look pretty shabby but that $8 price is nearly irressitable. I need a >20' set for my new PJ but don't want to buy anything that'll severely soften the image.

Lost and confused. Sorry need to ask a newb question. I have a Dvi to Dvi connection with my LCD TV to computer but it also has HDMI. Is Dvi to HDMI better than Dvi to Dvi? Trying to figure if I need this cord or not....
