Also, BJ's (like a Sams Club) has the PS2 for $297.00. I know the one in Charlotte, NC has a couple now that the rush is over.

Yep, the rush is over. The ones who couldn't wait to have one before Christmas is the real losers here because they paid WAY more than they're really worth.

Topeka KS is still PS2 free....average time from store opening to PS2's being gone is under 3 hours from what I understand. Unlike everyone else out there I did appreciate seeing this thread as I have been looking to buy one for a while. I especially like ordering from Playstation.com because there is no stupid package plus I am acually saving a bit of money due to no tax and cheap shipping.

Your total with shipping is going to be $306.xx. I've ordered a couple PS2's from these guys. No complaints. This is a pretty hot deal. Now if we can keep all the idiots who say &quot;Don't buy a PS2, get a DC&quot; or &quot;Wait for the x-box&quot; away we can actually keep this on-topic.

Sorry but I gotta say it ....DC is the better deal of the two. I have a Dreamcast and I'm buying a PS2, but I'm a freak who will buy any game system he has the money for. I will probably also buy GameCube and X-Box when they come out cause that's just how I am. To answer the shipping question for me the shipping was ~8 for Standard or ~14 for 2-3 day, I live in Topeka, KS and their warehouse is in Little Rock AR so you might be able to make a guess from there. Unless you live in AR or CA and have to pay tax you sub-total before shipping will be $299. In my case I am actually saving money by buying from playstation.com because sales tax on a PS2 would be over $20 which is more than I paid for shipping.

People who complain about this are idiots. First, not everybody is all high and mighty and has a PSX 2 in stock at their local retailer. 2nd, there is no tax to many states, therefore that will save you at least $20. 3rd, someone who is looking to buy one on egay for $360 would think this is a damn hot deal. 4th, MSRP doesn't mean crap if supply is low. I've said it b4, it's simple economics people.

I don't have one of these, nor do I want one, but I can understand how someone looking for one would really appreciate this post, so shut your friggin mouth for awhile if you are beatching.

I agree with badluck, if you don't like the thread then hit the back button on your browser and move on. I said at the top that this was for people who cared. And based on reaction from the FS/FT forum there seems to be quite a few people looking for these. And NO ONE over there is selling a used one let alone a new one below or even at retail.

I thought $299 was the MSRP on these things. If you're not paying tax I'd say that the S&amp;H charge makes this a better deal than the local store. Oh, and just to be difficult -- the Dreamcast is a better deal.

RaysMD: I would suggest DOA2: Hardcore or Dynasty Warriors 2 or Tekken Tag if you like fighting games. I would suggest Madden 2001 if you like football games. Other games my co-workers like are Smuggler's Run and Midnight Club.

SSX all the way. Gotta be my favorite title on the system right now. Of course, I'm a Squarsoft whore so I probably won't actually BUY a PS2 until they start releasing RPG's on the system.
