3 Arabs arrested in NY water plant.

The Wife called and said they arrested 3 Arabs in a NY water plant. They had illegal papers and were not supposed to be there. She saw this on MSNBC.

Something similar happened in Toronto. Somebody tried to bust into the Toronto water supply yesterday but they couldn't get through the gates so they ran away.

Yeah, they said on the radio a couple of days ago that an Arab was arrested after he went to a public library in Canton, Ohio and was asking for maps and blueprints detailing the city's water source and piping system, also.

It is hard to contaminate the water supply, especially one as large as what New York/New York City would have. It would get too dilluted unless they dropped a lot of crap into it, and I do mean a lot.

I design watermains and over-see their installation. It is easier than you think to contaminate a a watermain. We routinely have to re-chlorinate new lines before they go into service.

I have never dealt with potable water supply systems, but I have worked with DI systems for power and chemical plants and yes, it is not that hard to contaminate the water. All you have to do is stop water flow and restart the pumps and the ensuing "shock" will set off all kinds of alarms throughout the entire system. We used to do that on a regular basis in my Nuke plant (Naval) and at the coal burner to keep our piping systems as clean as possible.

I can imagine that these anthrax spores would spread out very quickly in water. Not a good thing.

It all depends what they were planning to put in the water. A small sample of plutonium would have devastating effects on the population.

For those that think it's difficult to contaminate a water supply, consider this:

Botulism Toxin is lethal at a dose of 1ppb (part per billion). A testtube of Botulism Toxin can kill everyone who drinks from a million gallon tank of water (typical water supply size storage tank). Imagine the damage that could be done with a gallon jug of Toxin.

Put the liquid and/or powder in a sac made of pig intestines or stomach and make them consume that. No heaven and virgins for them then.

Oh that's just friggin wonderful. I live a few hours away from Canton. :disgust:
