Just once I would like to have a "normal" piece of hardware. Or maybe I have excellent tastes while others go for the so so equipment. My case is the deep blue Aspire Super Alien. No matter what picture you have seen of this particular color you will be surprised at how stunning the actual case looks. Admitedly, the "eyes" look a bit hooky but I got used to it and I am willing to bet that I am far older than you are.
My original attraction was that I wanted a see through case. Now that I have one I realize that most of the shots shown on the web are without the 10,000,000 wires going all over the place. Clean looking on the outside, the case is kind of cluttered looking inside no matter how much I try to wrap lose wiring.
OK, here's what you get with this case. It can be purchased with an colored Aspire 550w PS that looks really sharp. Mine came with a 420w Turbolink which I later switched out for a 480w Thermatake. Nothing wrong with the Turbolink but everyone knocks it so I decided better safe than sorry. Finally, you can get the case with no PS and later pick you own. Try
www.xtremegear.com for the various combinations.
The front temp panel is kind of a waste. I could never figure how to actually connect the wiring to the CPU. I just use SpeedFan and let it sit on my tool bar showing me all the temps I need to now about. I didn't connect the Firewire either since my mobo already came with a rear set up. I did connect the front USBs. I also connected the two fan controls with one running the front two led lit ones and the other running the back two, side one, and top one. The 6 fans make a lot of noise relatively speaking. My next fantasy case with have two large 120 fans.
As you already know the HD are mounted sideways. I really like that although it does mean more wiring in your face. However, it's a literal snap to get them in and out. The case is so large that most everything is easily accessible. The side panel comes off and goes back on so easy that all manufactures should do the same. The mobo is removeable but not from the rear. When fully loaded you will not be lifting it out without a hassle of wires everywhere.
If you have any more questions just shout. I love the look of my case and found it to be fairly easy to work with. At the same time my tastes are moving towards the new SilverStones or Thermaltake with their sleek looks. The SilverStone Temjin TJ05 that is reviewed on this site today is absolutely stunning in appearance but $166 plus shipping and without a PS is out of my range.
