Use a program such as Alcohol 120% to make an image of each CD, combine them into one .iso image and burn to a DVD. Never done this myself, but it is possible.

I can see making MDF/MDS images of each CD, inclusive of copy protection but I have not heard of being able to combine these so that they would be seamlessly readable from one disc as single volume. If just included in a layout and burned as files then that is not an "image" but it would work as far as mounting each MDF/MDS image to seperate virtual drives with Alcohol 120%'s component or Daemon Tools, upon which it is based. Do you want to do this primarily for installation or for playing (relying upon disc data to play rather than full HDD install)? If a full install is possible and playable with a disc only required for checks, then the best solution is to make or aquire a mini-image of the disc to mount to a virtual CD drive from the HDD. Doing so is within your rights.

No no no. Many if not most games would not require a crack. I've done it for quite a few. A good rule of thumb is that if the installer asks you for a file like F.E.A.R. and Doom3, you can just include that file on a DVD installer. I like to imagine that this is what that extra disc space is for in the Doom3 case.
Now, to use that same disc as your play disc, THAT might require a crack. Usually there is enough room for Daemon-Tools and a CD image of the play disc so I just do that.

There are hacked installers for the games that do not work simply because they are looking at the disc label (Age of Empires III). I'm pretty sure you could do that with Notepad or something though.

GameCopyWorld.com has many guides for making a DVD install disc for your multi-disc game. Sure, there's a lot of questionable stuff there but what's important is what you do with it. For instance, I have no qualms with using my AoEIII DVD to install the game and the mini-CD Image with Daemon-Tools to play it on my laptop. If they make a patch that detects the latest Daemon-Tools or whatever, I'm no pirate still have my original discs ($35 Collector's Edition).

GCW doesn't help with everything. For instance, I had to make my F.E.A.R. install DVD myself. But they do save some trial and error. I just bought PoP Sands of Time and sure enough, there was only a text file in their PoP CD-to-DVD guide:

Dr!zzt presents:

Prince Of Persia - The Sands Of Time CD-2-DVD-Conversion

1) Create a Temp folder on your harddrive.
Name this folder: POP_INSTALL. This will be the name (Label) of our DVD.

2) Copy all the contents from CD1 (Install Disc) to the Temp folder.

3) Copy all the contents from CD2 (Play Disc) to the same Temp folder. Except the ?autorun? folder, the ?autorun.exe? file and the ?autorun.inf? file.

4) Burn the contents of the Temp folder to a DVD with the Label: POP_INSTALL

1) Create a Temp folder on your harddrive.
Name this folder: FS_DISC3 This will be the name (Label) of our DVD.

NOTE: For the French version of Flight Simulator, the label of your DVD must be FS_DISC4.

2) Copy all the contents from CD1 to the Temp folder.
3) Copy all the contents from CD2 to the same Temp folder. Do NOT overwrite any files if prompted!
4) Copy all the contents from CD3 to the same Temp folder. Do NOT overwrite any files if prompted!
5) Copy all the contents from CD4 to the same Temp folder. Do NOT overwrite any files if prompted!

6) Create another folder/s for any Updates

I believe MS FS 2004 has SafeDisc 2.90.040 protection on it, so you would need to rip it to an iso with a software that can remove the protection which I believe alcohol 120 can. Winrar should then be able to extract the files from the iso. Then just mixing all 4 cd's into one, then burning it to dvd.......not sure of the result. The installer may error out. If it does install fine then you will likely need either one of the original disc in the drive for the game to work, or you would need an image with the SafeDisc 2.90.040 protection removed then mounted into a virtual drive, or maybe the dvd you made would work for the cd check or you would need a no-cd hack.
