I would much rather have a bullet hole in my ceiling, giving away my position, than climbing out the window.

Sorry but there was no way anyone in their right mind would no if his quick flash was meant for me to pullover. The only reason I saw it was because I was looking directly in my rearview mirror.

Secondly, it is unwise to pull someone over in heavy traffic without using your lights. These cops were morons like the majority I have run into.

As a matter of fact, a few hours ago my girlfriend called the local police to report a suspicious car in her apartment complex parking lot. When I got to the apartmart 1.5 hours later teh car was still sitting there and no police were anywhere in site. Finally after another 10 mins a cop rolled up and didn't see anything since the car had just pulled into a different part of the lot. He comes up to the apartment and is giving us attitude like he just went way out of his way to drive by here. Then low and behold another call came over his radio for the same car sitting in front of someone elses apartment. Ended up the people were trying to find a spot to sleep for the night and were escorted out.

Bottom line is even this cop was acting like he was king mighty and we we wrong for bugging him. By the way this isn't Chicago or some big city like that, so there was no reason for them to take 1.5 hours to get there. For crying out loud their PD is about 2 miles away? Yet again another instance of a cop being an ahole for no reason at all.

first off, cops cannot tailgate you from a foot behind your vehicle. they have to obey the same traffic laws as everyone else when there lights aren't flashing (i've been told this by 2 separate police officers)

you should immediately ask the cop after being pulled what you are being pulled over. this is to ensure that they have a valid reason and not something they can make up later. they must always give you their badge number when asked.

you don't have to answer any questions. but remember that they will treat you like tihs if you don't. its unfair but unless you have lotsa money to fight this in court...

I don't mind replying so he can show his true colors. I still am getting a kick out of the "coward coward coward" bit. My fiancee would get a kick out of it since we both are avid gun owners. We love target shooting. One of my few hobbies that actually relieves stress.

Have you ever been in a life threatening situation cuz I feel that you have not. There is not all this time to debate should i do this, this or this.

It goes like this:
for simplicity this if you are alone in the house.

step one: grab lock box where gun is and take cover in safe place. If a cordless is on the way or convienient grab that also.
step two: Arm weapon.
step three: make the intruder know you know they are there, this can be done in many ways but the one that gets the best response is a warning shot
step four: while taking cover in the secure position you chose call 911.

step 5: wait and see what happens next.....If the cops come b4 he approaches your position of saftey then great...if they dont and the intruder proceeds to come into view then put his brains all over the place.

Running away isnt always wise as the intruder wont think twice about shooting a potential witness in the back while they are trying to escape.

The intruder is in go all out mode cuz he is going to jail for life or he isnt. He has nothing to lose you do. He needs to be neutralized and for that you need to show him that you dont have a problem dumping your clip off in his chest.

you got it wrong.

it's:

Step 1: grab gun.

step 2: grab alcohol.

step 3: open season on intruders.

and that's how i view it. well... minus the alcohol. might impair my shooting...

A few years ago, during a hot summer night, I couldn't sleep, so at 1 am, I decided to go for a scoot on my GPZ1100. Went a few miles north of here, to a section of roads that have a bunch of on/off ramps, for a major highway. Turned around and headed home. Got pulled over by a Stateboy, who waited for back-up. Bear in mind, I'm on a bike, (stupidly) no leathers, nothing bungeed to the back of the bike, nothing looking threatining at all. Finally, he walks up, does the liscense, reg, thing, asks where I was coming from. He didn't believe I "drove north, then turned around" to just go home. Then he said" we just had a convenience store robbed a few miles away, and your red bike, with red helmet match the description- ". Then , he said the clerk at the store was on the way in another car to ID me.
I was 40 years old then, and let me tell you, I was Shi**ing my pants, thinking " what if they say- yeah, it's him" ??? Thankfully they let me go, and I was impressed how courteous they were.

Wrong.....It could have been for any of the cars, heck now that I think of it he was in the middle of both lanes. It wasn't like I saw his lights stay on and I kept driving....they weren't even on for a split second. So please take your live and learn crap elsewhere.

Basically, he caught me on radar (or so he said at the time but I never asked for proof) and then pursued me without his lights or anything on. When he caught up to me, he proceeded to tailgate me and see what I did. Naturally, since he had those retarded lights that are uber bright, I sped up to get some room between our cars. When I sped up, he flipped on his lights and I pulled over. (It was dark so I didn't know it was a cop car until he flipped on his lights). After pulling me over, he waited forever to come up to my car, I was starting to think he had forgotten about me or something. So then when he gets there, he starts questioning why I sped up. I just told him that I felt uncomfortable with someone tailgating me, so I sped up. He then told me never to do that again because it isn't a valid reason and then ticketed me. Shrug, I didn't have any problem with the ticket, I just felt that was a very shady way of giving me one. I mean, I thought cops were supposed to use lights/siren when in pursuit and not tailgate the person once they caught up.

I was also of the understanding that cops flicker their lights to tell you to get out of the way. Not when they want to pull you over. When they want to pull you over, they put the lights on consistently.

Sometimes police have some weird methods of getting their job done, but, like someone else said, they are just humans and arn't perfect.

sounds similar to a ticket my dad got (sort of).
i was in the car with him, we were goin down a familiar wind-y 35mph 2-lane road at a little under 40mph and charging up from behind comes a cop (from his closing speed i would estimate he was going well over 60). he then proceeds to tailgate my dad for over a mile, at which poing my dad speeds up because he knows the road becomes a 45mph 4-lane in about 1/4 mile, and its obvious that this cock...err...cop, sorry...behind us finds him a hinderance. acceleration to 45mph, lights come on, pulled over. i see this look in my dads eye...the same one he used to get when he was furious with me over something...he's pissed. the arrogant little 20-something gives him a ticket without a second thought to what my father told him (basically that it was appearent that we were in the way, and he KNEW that the road widened and the speed limit increased, and he KNEW it was a police car behind him so why would he go 10-over on purpose...he was just trying to get out of the way).
i cant remember if he contested it or not.

I live in Montreal, Canada. Over here, although you do require college-level education to become a cop, they usually aren't too smart. Fortunately they're not stupid enough to try and pull someone over for no reason.
And there's a few things that most people don't know (I dunno if it's the same everywhere, but it is here)
1. If a cop wants to ask you questions or even talk to you, he HAS to get out of his car. If he stays in his car and drives up to you to talk, you can ignore him.
2. If a cop isn't wearing his ENTIRE uniform (including his hat), he has no right to arrest you or question you.

Generally, when you point out that they're breaking one of those rules, they tend to leave you alone.
