3 Hard drive deals, which is best?

Ok, so i need a hard drive. I found 3 deals that I think are pretty good, I want everyone's opinion on which is the best.

Outpost.com - Western Digital 250GB, 8MB, ATA/100 - $122 shipped AR

Outpost.com - Maxtor 250GB, 8MB, ATA/133 - $143 shipped no rebates

CompUSA - Hitachi 200GB, 8MB, ATA/100 - $93 shipped AR (this one has a 3 year warranty as opposed to 1 year for the others)

If they are 8MB, they should all have 3 year warranties. I'd go for the Maxtor myself. $20 won't make a lot of difference when it takes so long to get your rebate money.

Make sure you get a 3 year warranty, however. Buying any drive with 12 months of RMA time is not worth it these days.

I'd get anything but Maxtor... I have nothing bud bad luck with them....... I think that's widespread knowledge now

You should definitely get the Hitachi. It's the fastest, the cheapest, the quietest, and has the 3-year warranty. The only thing the other ones have going for them is the extra 50G, but I absolutely don't think it's worth it.

I'd go Hiatchi from everything I have heard. It is also the cheapest. I have one coming in a few days, lookin forward to trying it out. I havent had an IBM drive since the Deskstar line was the champ (and 20 gigs was HUGE).

That WAS the case. Go Hereand read the fine print. Just about all the popular drives (not Seagate) have gone to 1 year for their Retail sold drives. If you buy the same drive OEM you get a 3-year warranty. Seems kind of backwards but I was told that they did this to encourage folks to buy the extended warranty from the sellers in the stores.

I would also say go with the Hitachi. It is, from all the reviews I have read, the fastest. Here it is the cheapest. It is also very quiet and it has a 3 year warranty. Definitely Hitachi.

Hitachi - on the basis it has a super quiet seek compared to my DiamondMax plus 9. Recent Maxtor's have LOUD seeks.

I've heard that Maxtors fail alot(all over the forum, plus my friends 80gig drive failed after 4 months) , so I would probably go with the WD cause they have never failed on me, plus it's bigger than hitachi, and cheaper than maxtor

it's diff for everyone. some will say maxtor has never failed on them. i had a WD fail on me last year fyi. i also have another wd thats worked fine, along with a seagate.
