does anyone here have any experience with
3-IN-ONE - 100581 Professional Garage Door Lubricant?

my garage door is sticking a lot and i did a little googling and this kept coming up. i dont really know a lot about garage door mechanisms and if this would be sufficient to spray all over the working parts and expect it to last. or is this more of a temp fix?
also, i have a sliding glass door that is also now sticking, and in the reviews for this stuff, people have also recommended it for the sliding doors. so if it can be used for both, that would be swell.

if there are any other recommendations, please let me know. thanks for any input!

should work. is it a screw type, chain or belt drive opener? you don't want to spray on the belt if it is that type. regular grease on the screw type and a spray like this will be ok for chain drive.
this should be fine on the rollers/track.

i would use a dry lube on a sliding door, the oil based stuff like this can stain the frame/door/track unless its aluminum.

Not exactly sure what "sticking" means here, but it might be worth looking at the hinges that connect your garage door segments together. Their bolts can become loose and contribute to binding of the track wheels. That door lubricant looks a lot like what I have used on the door hinges and track wheels.

it is a screw type. also, sorry for my ignorance, but when you say regular grease and dry lube, what does that mean? what am i looking for at home depot?

what i mean is that when its colder (for Florida) when you push the button to open the door, the door goes up part way (roughly 2 ft) and then stops. if you push it again to let it go back down, and then push it to go up again, it will go up past the previous stop point a little farther (another 2 feet-ish), and then stop again. so, sometimes i just duck to get under the door instead of stop/start/stop/start. never any issues when it goes down.

Screw type? Sorry to hear that. My personal experience has been that these make quite a bit of noise and aren't all that powerful. Be careful what lubricants you apply to the screw. Anything even slightly viscous will add a lot of load onto the motor (especially as it gets dirty). I'd look to find one specifically intended for the screw drive. (Actually, I'd look to replace it 😉)

What you describe sounds to me like the motor cutting out due to a sensed overload. I'm going to double down on my suggestion to check out all the door hinges and wheels. Make sure all the nuts are tight and moving parts lubricated with light spray lubricant (like the 3-IN-ONE).

As herm suggests, verifying the alignment of the door opener and of the door tracks is a good idea.

Finally, I'd also take a look at the screw itself. If it is coated with thick grease and/or dirt then that alone could cause an overload in cold weather. Clean it as best you can and use the right lubricant. Here's one:

Good luck...

Definitely detach the opener from the door (should be a pull handle of sorts. I didn't know what it was on ours until I tried it lol) and manually put the door up and down. You'll know quick enough if it's an alignment issue if it sticks. Good luck!

Great advice, Mr Blotto. Also good to know how to do that and what to expect.

I could also means the spring needs adjustment. The spring helps take strain off the motor. In fact, without it, the door would be incredibly hard to open manually, and would not stay in the open position.

Release the door from the opener as shown above. Manually open the door. If the spring is adjusted corectly, the door should stay in the half open position all by itself. If it won't, it needs to be tightened.
