3 loooong beeps on bootup....

I'm using some generic matx s370 board w/ onboard video. I've tried two different p3 cpu's. I get the same 3 beeps every time I boot. Also, I've tried 2 diff hsf's w/ arctic silver. Theres does not appear to be any signal going to the 2nd input on my monitor, meaning the yellow light does not turn green.

There isn't a 3-long listed, but you can bet it's a ram problem.

thanks for the help guys. I've tried switching out ram chips but same problem. I'll have to try another MB to see if the slots are messed up i guess.

check AGP card before u switch mobo's like the others said..

no agp slot. i'm currently trying it with the onboard video. tried it with a pci video card too, no go.

You say you have reseated the ram. Have you tried different slots? It might sound stupid, but I had one mobo where they were labeled wrong and putting the ram in the "correct" slot was wrong.

Since you say it's a board with onboard-video, you get beeps that indicate ram or agp problem, and you aren't getting a video signal, you might want to look into that. Are there jumpers to activate/deactivate the onboard video that you might need to fix?

unfortunately i've tried all your suggestions even different RAM chips. No jumpers for the video. Anyway to see if the slots are screwed up?

I had this same problem today myself....changed video card, and memory and found out it was the Power supply. After enough reboots the power supply gave off a small squealling sound and I replaced it and its working fine now.

Did you try pushing the video cable into the motherboard a little? Maybe the cable is lose.

well..........its definitely a mobo problem. Changed to my other mobo and everything works perfect. Something I did not mention that should have tipped me off...my KVM would not recognize the bad mobo. The light on the KVM would blink meaning that it was not recognizing that mobo. KVM works perfect with the good MB. looks like the ps2 ports are screwed up on that mobo as well.

Tell us who would send a motherboard and not put it in a static shielded bag... so no one else orders from them until they understand what ESD means.

I shocked my ak31 v3.1 the same way. I was due for an upgrade anyway.
