Hey now, calm down.

I am saying that while some people were willing to show in public they are not afraid of Muslims, it does not show people walking by and what they they felt. Obviously you cant see what is in peoples minds, and its crazy to think that is what I meant by my statement. But, the video you posted does not show anything other than a few nice people. The implication of your clip is to show that people don't hate Muslims. It may be true that most people are not afraid of Muslims, or it may not be.

Man, for you to get annoyed you have to read a lot into my statement that I did not say.

Thanks for proving my point.

Some people need there to be racism to further their agenda. They attack and try to dispel any evidence that racism is not prevalent. Show a video of random strangers hugging a Muslim? "Well other people walked by!" Fuck you idiot, if I stood out there with a hug me sign, people would walk by my white ass.

Nothing positive is positive with you people. There can be only negative.

Everything I keep reading makes it seem like this was not about their religion, and more about an ongoing issue with parking. Apparently people regularly took his personal spot because student parking filled up. Its a shitty reason to kill someone, but I'm not just seeing anything to show it was about nationality or religion.

Can anyone show something that validates he hated Muslims?

I would just like to point out the irony. Many times I have said that not everything is about race. I, even on this thread, have been saying people should wait for facts, because it may not have been about race. But, because I said your video does not support or disprove anything, I must be in opposition to you.

You are actually the one who is making something from nothing. All I said was that the video does not show whats in peoples minds. They may have thought "oh noes, a scary Muslim", or maybe they thought "oh, that guy is awesome for doing that, because it will show most people don't fear Muslims".

My point was that a video of 2 people does nothing to show anything for pro or non anti Muslim views.

*I was torn about adding this, because its anecdotal, but I don't think this was about race. I don't think the Mike Brown case was about race either. I think many people have been making something out of nothing as an excuse to get angry for their short comings.

There's a difference between hating religion and hating its adherents, the former obviously being healthy and rational, the latter obviously being stupid and pointless (like the stupid religious people making a point of his anti theism as if it's relevant instead of incidental to his obvious psychosis). Obviously!

White people do all of that.

Why go out of your way to focus on one group or another?

Please provide a link to where white people are doing the things I've mentioned. If they are, that's despicable and yes, I'd condemn that as well.

You re the idiot.

Do you realize how much one must be hatefull to kill two women.?.

A dispute cant produce such an outcome if the murderer is not filled with prejudices and an above norms hate, you re just a racist apologist trying to downplay a racist crime.

Religion is not inherited like race, it is a choice, call him a religious bigot, hater, etc.,

unless you want to be included with the birthers, tea party types that believe Obama is a Muslim because his father once was and he inherited the Muslim gene.:hmm:

I would wager no more hateful than if you killed two men.

On what basis do you suggest that normal hate cannot motivate a murder? Are you a psychologist? A psychiatrist? Indeed, do you have any expertise whatsoever in any area that might just give you some ability to make that claim?

There was no race crime here. There was no religious crime here. What there IS is a sexist, racist, hate-filled poster named Abwx who continually transfers all his OWN prejudices and hate onto other and assumes that's how they function.

I think it's a tragedy, and although I don't believe in capital punishment, the chair wouldn't really be harsh enough for 3 first degree murders. But I'm waiting for some evidence of a hate crime, too. I heard this on NPR Radio yesterday:

She says she strongly believes that the crime was motivated by hate. She remembers a few months ago when she was over at the couple's house for dinner and Yusor texted her later to say that their neighbor Hicks came by and complained.

SALEM: Hey, your friends were being really loud and disrespectful.

KHRAIS: Salem remembers that her friend went on to say that he pointed at the gun in his pocket and said, I don't want this to happen again.

Boy that's some strong evidence of a hate crime there!

Agree, but i d like to point that religion is not all, it s likely that this guy assimilate the term muslim with the term arab or any other nationality that would be representative of islam, not sure that if thoses muslims where converts from european extraction and appearance that the guy would had acted similarly, more physical differences will reinforce the belief that theses people are really differents or unworthy in the eyes of a supremacist, wich this guy was, atheist or not.

there is no religious angle. get over it . you got owned by tabloids.

No... that would be confirmation bias. He looks at us and sees monsters. This story was supposed to confirm that... only no one here supports what happened to the victims.

Then we're to fall back on how terrible it was for the media to sleep (a few hours) on the story. I'm having trouble following that logic, though I am curious how we would have reacted if the roles were reversed.

Sort of like asking how excited Pakistan would be if an American murdered people over there... as opposed to yet another tribal killing. Is that supposed to be a fair question, or a testament to something bigger? Maybe the discussion could head somewhere better.

We already had that before. Remember Raymond Davis? A blackwater agent who shot dead a man and ran over another--he was big news in Pakistan. Eventually, he was let go for "blood money" which is effectively how the rich avoid prosecution here. Despite promises of a trial in the United States, that murderer roams free.

High-profile murders will obviously get more attention. Tens of people are killed in gang wars, police encounters and military operations everyday. They aren't even mentioned by name on prime time news.

No... that would be confirmation bias. He looks at us and sees monsters. This story was supposed to confirm that... only no one here supports what happened to the victims.

I don't see monsters. It's just a way to advance my feelings/knowledge of how the world works. Murders and killings are unavoidable. I should be the last person to preach religious tolerance when hundreds of people are being killed every year for their faith every year in my country. The killers are proud and some even enjoy widespread public support (see Mumtaz Qadri).

Incidents like the Chapel Hill killings confirm that the self-righteous beacons of democracy suffer from similar biases. A media trial in America has already decided that it wasn't a hate crime. The rest of the world says: terrorism. The former quotes the "suspect's" wife. The latter the victim's father.

Umm, not really. There's plenty of hatred going around. Just read this forum. The point being, it's not everyone hating. Hmm, where have I heard that argument before?

I don't know, where have you heard it before?

The point is American hate crimes against Muslims pale in comparison to Muslim hate crimes against Americans. Or Europeans. Or any non-Muslims. Or other Muslims.

Everyone is so quick to jump on the white, right-wing Islamophobe and say it represents a "rash" or "massive epidemic" or "culture of hate" or other such bullshit when it's really just a lot of politically correct, usually left-wing people stroking their cocks to how superior they think they are.

160 anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2013? That minuscule number is how you know we don't have a real problem. Consider that there were 657 anti-white (yes, anti-white) hate crimes in 2012, among others:

I get it, I get it. Your boo-boo is bigger and hurts more than their boo-boo. You're the *real* victim and it's about time people acknowledged it.

You and Abwx make a great pair. You two can trade grievances with one another while the rest of us can mourn a tragic act that appears to have a number of contributing factors including possible religious bigotry and mental instability.

Could you ever just make 1 post without "bigot" in it?
Grab a Thesaurus or something.
Expand your vocabulary.
Every post you make..this is what I see:

Victorian Gray:Resident Bigot caller.
This time it's the murderer of those poor students.
You fear your personal bigotry, don't you?

No, you don't get it. Let me spell it out for you:

Islamophobic hate crimes are such a small problem that white people in America suffer more hate crimes. Now consider how laughable the idea of anti-white discrimination is in America, let alone anti-white hate crimes. Have you ever heard of one? I've lived here all my life and I haven't outside of some obscure revenge crimes during the violent parts of the civil rights movement.

I mourn the loss of three innocents as much as anyone, but this incident represents nothing more than a crazy person murdering 3 people. Statistically speaking that's going to happen a few thousand more times this year even if we stopped everything and devoted every possible resource to this problem. Are we going to have massive internet debates about all of them? No, because unless news organizations and posters on the internet can spin an issue into more than it is, it apparently isn't worth talking about. In this case it so happens that the murderer was an atheist and his victims were Muslim. If the murderer was Hindu and his victims Christian this thread would not exist even if every other circumstance was identical.
