Just find a cheap 1680x1050 22" inch monitor, you'll never notice the difference.

Also, if you check benchs with tri titans on this site http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_Titan_SLI/1.html
you can see games like farcry3 are already putting a lot of stress to the system with 3x1080p, my rig will be kinda the same appart from oc'd gpus and cpu, but will it really be enough to get satisfying fps on 3x1440p?

Wow, from that site a 3rd Titan is a HUGE waste of money. If that site is right you are gonna want to remove a Titan for some games lol..

I almost feel like something is wrong here, in many of the games 2 outperform 3, and in some games even 1 outperforms 2.

I always thought at the very least SLI would perform as well as a single card in games that do not support SLI well.

I got my eyes on those LG LN5300 series (32", 39", and 42") LED HD 1080p TVs. I'm thinking either the 32" or 39" (which the 39" is said to be like the old Westy 37" but better) as a set up. Cheaper than the typical 30" LCD monitor. I hear they make great gaming TVs. You may want to look into them as one possibility. Just a suggestion anyway.
What about the LN5400 series which offers a 42" 1080p with 120Hz refresh rate? Any good for computer use or gaming?

If you're in France, I recommend using geizhals/skinflint as source for shopping.

While none of their shops had a better deal on my NEC 301PA than amazon.fr (got it for 1550, when they were clearing stock) when I ordered it in March, it still is a great tool to whittle down screens by features and then shop for them. Also, often German/UK prices are better than French prices.

In your position I would probably get a decent 27" 16:9 now, and then upgrade to 4k in 18 months or so. Already you can get a 32" quad HD screen at 5k euro, so I'm expecting that price to drop to the point where a decent 32-36 inch 4k screen can be had for around 3k in less than two years.

Basically, a "4K" monitor is exactly what you would want for a 3x titan setup...except nobody makes them. Well there's the Seiki TV I listed but its low quality and stuck at 30FPS...Asus just announced one which needs 2 DP connectors to get over 30FPS, and costs as much as its resolution (4k$).

30" is nice, but as you see most are designed for graphics not gaming, and the 25x16 res SHOULD be better.

It's unfortunate we've been stuck in this shit screen limbo, that's why we have to deal with multi monitor setups...because manufacturers refuse to make decent screens, especially for gaming.

It seems as if the market is stirring though, perhaps it's best to get a cheap monitor now and wait for a proper display to be released.

I'm still using a decades old CRT because it's vastly superior to any LCD product currently available. I will upgrade when they can at least match the PPI on my 20" monitor...even if it takes a 30" and I loose every other advantage (uniformity/color/response time).

There's the 5k euro Sharp one as well, at 32". Probably the pick of the pack.

What're you using, an IBM P275? I threw mine out a few months ago as the colors had started to fade. Sadly, CRTs don't last forever.

I would think so but I haven't heard anything about that model series. I just spoke about the 5300 because there are people using them. I'll have to look into the 5400 line and see what I can find out.

Update: Okay I did some research about the LG LN5400 series. First off they start off at 42" and go up from there in size. That may be a problem for those looking for something in the 30ish size. They are 120Hz refresh where the LN5300 series are 60Hz. I have not found anyone using the 5400 series for gaming but a LCD review site said they were great for watching tv but not really good for gaming because the cpu and gpu in the 5400s are weak making lag a problem apparently. The site said it would be better to go up to the LN5700 series that uses dual core cpu and better gpu unit. Unless we see some user reviews of the LN5400s and gaming set ups probably best to look at something else as far as gaming goes.

hey, watched benchs here : http://www.anandtech.com/show/6910/origin-genesis-review-triple-titan-terror/4

which is basically going to be my exactly my rig, and benchmarks with a single 1400p and full out on everything isnt EXTRAORDINARY, it may be overkill for now but i doubt i'll be handling 3x1440p for a long time, and i'd rather have one big screen over 3x24" for sure now.

Can't really find a proper 30" appart from the hp zr30w, so it'll be either this one or a 1440p 27", probably going for the LG 27EA83 or the HP zr2740w, both really seem alike

thank your for your help everyone

u3014 seems plagued with issues on every single level if you check forums yea, was my first choice but it really doesnt seem worth at all at the moment : /
What exactly is wrong wtih the U3014? Short of a 4K monitor, a trio of those would be by far the most sensible option given their resolution and the fact that they're using the very latest LG panel.

if money isnt an issue for you, i'd pick a NEC over dell or HP anytime.

You would also pay 4 times as much, if you're going for a 2560x1440/1600 IPS screen. NEC has a few budget 1080p/1200p screens but their QHD panels are ridiculously expensive, and not remotely worth it unless you're using it for a workplace or professional use.

that's why i said *if money is not an issue* you want the best? you gotta pay for it, simple.

I would recommend using a single 30inch monitor from dell, the model is dell ultrasharp u3011 30inch. Here's the link
http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-u3011/pd

I got this few years back during Christmas for around $1150, more or less. They got newer models now though.

I would also like to recommend you amBX gaming lights. A friend of mine uses his for PC gaming and it kinda looks like this but with a single monitor

I saw some people liked it so much that they use it on a TV screens like so

It does look cool and I was about to get one but I was afraid of any possible seizures. I'm paranoid >.<

I would limit my search down to ultra thin bezel models, but since you're going portrait that might not matter (nothing with a thin bottom strip).

I do not agree if you have 3 titans get 3 3-" monitors. If you just spent $3100 on 3 titans 1 30" is overkill. The best way is to go for 3 27" or 3 30", there is no other reason to get anything less. However 7680 x 1600 would be truly epic. check the battlestations forum of reddit

Doublesight 30"; not much lag... basically a ZR-30. I doubt three Titans will have to stretch their legs much for a few years @ 2560x1600. Massive amounts of AA will kill anything, but hell... I use a GTX670 with a 30", and it'll play anything on at least high.

Edit: Any 30" you can buy in France... you don't need a NEC; most people don't.

That screen looks fine thank you very much, I just can't really import thatto france, customs and taxes there make it too much a gamble to import anything, I've seen people pay twice the price of the us price if you added everything they made you pay for the import. : /

Gotta stick to EU countries

I'm in neighbouring Belgium, where import duties and VAT are just as bad as France if not worse. Certainly, you need to be aware of what these extra costs will be and accept them. But they're NO WAY NEAR high enough to equal a 'doubling' of the price
