Great discussion, funny how it ended up in HOT Deals section. I'm just getting back into working out, and the prices/recomendations on protein are great. Also the suggestions of places to get more info at other forums.

Anyone here use Muscletech Nitrotech protein, or their CellTech creatine. I used that combination for a summer and got great results. Suprised no-one mentioned them yet. Sounded like they were very effective, but maybe somewhat expensive?

Personally, I have issues with EAS products. Maybe things have changed, but ever since they made tons off their first body for life contest, which I do have the video for, they just don't seem trustworthy. They were the first to push andro, which is junk and their magazine magically went from a roid endorsing mag to health and fitness and they denied they ever endorsed the use of roids. BS. I don't trust weider even more, but at least weider has gotten health and fitness further than EAS. If you really want to learn about building strength, Beyond Brawn is a great book. Also try to find some articles by the great Arthur Jones.

Sorry, just had to get that EAS chip off my shoulder.

Their stuff works, but it is grossly overpriced. You can make your equivalent of those if you buy dextrose somewhere else and just mix it with your own protein and or creatine. Dextrose is like $2 a pound online and even cheaper if you can find it at a store.

Just a warning to all of you people who are relatively new to this. Don't get all caught up in the supplement hype. Supps are max like 10% of an effective workout system. The other 90% being nutrition, sleep, and correct and intense training.

As for my recommendations on a protein shake....1 cup water + 4 egg whites (the salmonella free kind you can buy at the store) + 1 can tuna + tabasco + some ice + 2 tablespoons flax seed oil.

Blend till nice and smoooooooooooooooth. Hold nose, if you have feminine tendencies, and chug. The first time you attempt this, be sure to be next to sink. I use this as my GOOD F*CKEN MORNING and GOOD F*CKEN NIGHT shakes. I can't stomach food at either of those times. Simple, nice diversity of protein, and cheap.

As for the original question get that cheapo 10 pound bag. Tastes fine to me, use it pretty much only for postworkout, with some dextrose. goto http://forum.bodybuilding.com and read up there - lots o good info.

Bottom line

Eat
Train
Sleep

I was thinking grilled chicken breasts.

You think if I added enough water I could get a shake like consistency?

You ever tried chuck or chicken blended?

That recipe reminds me of that old school bodybuilder that would mix tuna with diet coke. Never tried it though. I usually stick with powdered milk, eggs (halg, whites half whole-more protein in the yolk) for my protein intake. I love chicken and pork.

The EAS protein is very good. I'd have to say its some of the better stuff, taste wise.. I mean... whey proteins are not exactly a gormet meal.. but EAS Complete Whey is tolerable

EAS whey is the best I have tasted.

One of the best ways to get some protein in the morning is to mix it with your cereal (this only really works with vanilla). Breaks the monotony of drinking shakes and depending on the cereal you are eating it can be quite good.

i personally like this mix..

blend

a) 1 cup of raw oat meal
b) two servings of whey
c) 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil
d) xanthun gum (makes it thicker)

yummy. I have also tried throwing half a break of tofu into the mix and drop the oil and it also tastes great. I mean..this is no strawberry shake or nothing, but it is pretty good if it comes to homemade shake. Good carb, protein and fat source. I pretty much do one of these everything morning.

Just got my Designer Whey protein.

Too early to say anything about the results yet.
Two things I can comment on though:

The taste of the strawberry one is pretty good, even though it has that flour-like aftertaste and if prepared with water, it has a very faint milky taste, no surprise there, considering it is a waste in the cheese manufacturing. How does the saying go? One's trash is somebody else's treasure...

Second, I can not believe the bullshit that is printed on the label. I am a an analytical chemist and the statements/claims on the label gave me some serious laughs. Seems the more hideous a claim the better a product sells, but that is just my two cents.

Overall, I will stick with the Designer whey, the taste is ok, it does not lump (only used it in a mixer) and most important: I can not possibly eat that much chicken breast or tuna in one day and for sure not week after week. Ick.

Quick question: does anyone use the EAS AdvantEdge Protein bars? I saw em today at WalMart of all places. They were something like $1.67 a pop. Interesting flavors, such as coookies & cream and lemon cheesecake and chocolate chip brownies. Says on the label each bar contains 25g of protein. Before I go out and buy a whole bunch, just thought I would ask what you guys think, if you ever tried them. I have no clue if the price is ok or not, since they only sell single bars.

I'm on a low-carb diet and eat a lot of the EAS advantage Carb Control bars. They're all pretty decent but Cookies and Cream are definitely the best. The Apple & Cinnamon isn't very good though. I guess I'm not real fond of the Lemon Cheesecake either - its way too sweet. The Carb Control ones only have limited flavors, I know the normal ones have much more variety.

Thanks, guess I will give them a try and see how I like them. After all, tastes are different. Would just help break the routine of protein shakes. And they are much easier to carry.

the designer comes highly recommended to me from my uncle. He owns and teaches his own kenpo studio. He teaches a well known body builder, whos sponsered by met-rx, that took designer before he became sponsered.

Said its the best tasting, reasonably priced, result producing protein. I am still convinced that each person has one supplement that works for them based on genetics. What would work for you might not work for me or someone else etc.

Protein, taken with with 3 10g servings of glutamine a day, works pretty damn well.

thanks!

I have to check how much I paid. I ordered 2x 2lbs of strawberry and 5lbs of vanilla. I received the strawberry one already, the vanilla is still outstanding.

There were two seperate charges on my card, don't remember which one is which. Will have to take a look at the actual packing slip.
One of the two was $30 something and one was $40 something. My total for everything with UPS shipping was $70 something.

I did not search for the absolut lowest price, I assume I could have gotten it for less somewhere, but hey, $1-2 bucks less didn't really matter to me. In the long run I might look for the cheapest as well as reliable source though.

Oh yes, I ordered from Vitamin Shoppe.
I saw it too late, but I think there was some coupon or rebate mentioned somewhere. Also, on my packing slip there was something about points accumulated, though I have not yet bothered to check what those are good for, guess I will get some rebat later on, who knows.

I just placed a major order with vitaglo, the one with 2x 5lbs of Designer for $55 with free shipping and some additional stuff. Pity they only have vanilla and chocolate. I hate artificial chocolate flavor.

Well, we'll see what comes thru. If there is a problem I'll let the credit card company sort it out. But so far it looks good, $55 for 10lbs of Designer whey protein and free shipping.

scrubman:

did you attempt to order and ran into problems? Or were you just wondering if this deal was real?
Just curious, that's all. As I said, I placed the order and got the confirmation for the price that was in the first post. So it seems to be legit.

I'll have protein for years to come.

yes i started the ordering process and it seemed that the quantity was "1" and it was $55... when i put quantity "2" it went to $110... seemed fishy for the quantity to say "1" and have that mean 2 5 lb cans... it sounds like they just want you to purchase 2 to get the free shipping... its not very clear what they got going on there...
